I know I've mentioned this before, but as far as this X-Ray release goes do we know if it's the Hospital Massacre or X-Ray cut? The old X-Ray VHS is heavily cut.

"The Rank VHS, under the title X-Ray, is heavily cut with a running time of 77 minutes, whereas the MGM/UA tape, under the title Hospital Massacre, runs 89 minutes."

Important stuff guy!

I think I recall them mentioning on Facebook that it will be the uncut version, however the licensor required that they release it under the title X-Ray.

I'm pretty sure Cliff mentioned on Facebook that it's the long version. I'll see if I can dig up the actual quote when I get home.

Here's the Facebook quote:

X-RAY FANS TAKE NOTE: Our presentation of X-RAY is the full 89 min version - which is what HOSPITAL MASSACRE was released on VHS in the 80s - and not the cut version that has, apparently, existed on overseas VHS copies or some cable airings. We did our homework on this one.

I heard there is an uncut version of The Outing under another name as well. I wonder if the cut included in the 4 pack will be the uncut version?

The Lamp...
"The pre-certification British VHS version released as The Lamp by Braveworld & IVS Video UK features a three minute pre-titles sequence with back story trimmed from the North American home video version release by IVE titled The Outing.
UK cinema and video versions were cut by 14 secs with edits to a rape scene."

THE OUTING is pretty killer. I hope Shout's release is worth the upgrade.

^ I'm curious about The Outing as well. The transfer was given to them by MGM, so it'll probably be the US cut. I have the IVE VHS, so as long as it includes at least everything there, I'll be good.

They might surprise us though. The version of Grotesque they released on their Vampires, Mummies, & Monsters set is considerably longer than the Media VHS I own. It has the longer USA Up All Night ending, a random scene of Linda Blair and Donna Wilkes at a Burger King drive-thru, and a few other added bits that aren't on the VHS. There are also various shots missing from the VHS, making the scenes move at a faster pace (for instance, when the girls first arrive at the cabin).

I think that's Imdb, and they're notoriously incorrect more often than not. The BBFC doesn't list any cuts for the video versions (only shorter due to PAL speedup) – it was just definitely the original theatrical release that was cut in the UK.

I do own the OOP Region 2 DVD of The Lamp released by Midnite Movies in 2000. I really don't recall the rape scene being cut there, but I've never compared it to my old VHS.

I thought their Django releases were pretty good, so I grabbed the Spaghetti Westerns discs along with the Sci-Fi 4-pack, The Fog, Knightriders, The Incredible Melting Man, and Cohen & Tate. And I still want Kentucky Fried Movie and Heavy Traffic... Too much stuff!

EDIT: apparently the Timeless Westerns release is actually a blu!
Do you know if these new releases are uncut and widescreen?

Ah, I found something:
Quote:
None on the films are as good as the Koch transfers of those same titles...not even close to as good....they are not bad but not at the Koch quality. I have the Koch releases of the Ringo films and they are much better than the ones in the timeless box set.
Even at those prices, I think I'll pass.

I got my review copies of The Howling, Ninja III and Lifeforce in yesterday. Scream sends their review copies out way early, what's it like 37 days till Howling and Lifeforce come out? I'll probably take a couple of days to actually write reviews, but I can post some screenshots beforehand if anyone is curious what they look like.
