They were referring to the new box cover being the free poster. To answer the original question yes the free poster is the same as the ugly box. I think it's ugly and stupid as hell absolutely lame as f$%k!!

What's so bad about the boxset cover? I really like it. Has the original house, the original font. Looks better than the MGM boxset cover in my opinion.

It's pretty bland with its red and black background and plain white titling. There's not a lot of depth in there that's for sure.

With the release of Amityville 1-3, do you think studios will release more Amityville sequels such as 4, 1992, and Dollhouse on blu-ray?

Maybe if they pack them together. I wouldn't expect extras on the disc either.

Eh, it feels mighty photoshop'd and cluttered. I'm more a fan of the simple, like this...

That's pretty much par for the course for most new poster/cover art. I'm of the opinion that if you can't improve upon the original, then why try? It seems as if the only way they can make things look "modern" is to make things look ugly. But at least Shout has the common courtesy to include original poster art. I wish Sony gave the same consideration when they released Night of the Creeps.
