We're thrilled to report today that we are planning to release Brian DePalma's classic 1974 film PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE sometime in the later half of the Summer!

This marks the first time the film will be on blu-ray for the first time in the U.S. and Canada. Expect this to be in the "Collector's Edition" series with new extras but we have no other details to report at this time as our deal for this was literally just signed so stay tuned here in the Spring of next year for more info to emerge."

I was really hoping that was in the pipeline. I just hope Fox's transfer is up to snuff 'cause this movie needs to stand up next to Synapse's Suspiria in my double features.

I guess Shout is going to be releasing Evilspeak and Final Exam on Blu. Kinda wish I hadn't bought the Code Red release now. Oh well.

Arrow is also releasing PHANTOM next year. I will wait for the reviews to decide which one to buy.

I'm down for Evilspeak and Final Exam. I just hope they include the bonus features from the original DVD releases as well as the recent re-releases. The Scorpion edition of Final Exam was missing features from the previous BCI edition and the Code Red edition of Evilspeak was missing features from the previous Anchor Bay edition.

While it has been announced, here's Scream Factory's Facebook post for confirmation:

"**BREAKING: TWO TITLE ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR 2014!**

Fans of early 80s school-themed horror films are in luck with this news. 1981's college campus slasher film FINAL EXAM and 1982's satanic revenge epic EVILSPEAK (starring Clint Howard) will both be making their debuts on Blu-ray both for the first time this Summer!

These titles have been with Code Red - another long-time cult film home entertainment company - for some time and we are pleased that we were able to make a deal with them for these two guilty pleasures.

Expect the same extras that were on the prior Code Red DVD releases to be imported over. More details on street date and if any more extras are planned will be revealed in the new year."

I'm on the fence about Evilspeak and Final Exam. I own the original releases (AB and BCI respectively) of both, and neither are among my favorites. but for the right price, with some swell extras, I could see myself biting.

Yeah I would have done the same thing but in the past, everytime I sit on it and hold off on buying a Code Red release that I want, it ends up going OOP and the price sky rockets. All part of the game I guess.

I'd bite on Final Exam and Evilspeak. I remember Scorpion's release of Final Exam looked spectacular. I really wonder then, who has the blu-ray rights to Savage Streets? It would be awesome if Shout! released that too.

how much better can final exam look on Blu-ray. THe transfer will have to be a pretty big leap in quality which it wont be much different than what we have now. so maybe ill bite.
Have evilspeak on code red dvd, that's enough for me..

A comment from Scream on Facebook:

"We have no other plans to sublicense films from Code Red...at this time. It will largely depend on a few factors but mainly to see how sales of Evilspeak and Final Exam - two of their most popular titles - will do. These aren't planned for release till early Summer so that assessment is far off."

Will get Arrow's Phantom of the Paradise and stick with the Final Exam DVD. Too bad Synapse didn't get Deadly Eyes. I messaged them about it months ago.
