Both Amazon.com and Shout! Factory are currently sold out, but Amazon.ca still has it listed: http://www.amazon.ca/Nightbreed-The-.../dp/B00LMBUQPK

So, Scream is announcing 10 titles at their upcoming San Diego Comic Con panel on Friday night.

Let's speculate.

My official guesses...

1. Escape From New York (1981)
2. Village of the Damned (1995)
3. The Mutilator (1984) (by some miracle)
4. Silent Madness (1984)
5. Hell Night (1981)
6. Sugar Hill (1974)
7. Demon Knight (1995)
8. Paperhouse (1988)
9. Ghost Town (1988)
10. Eyeball (1975) (again, by some miracle)

As much as I love speculating I never guess any of the titles correctly. One thing I do seem to get right (most of the time) is my prediction that the titles they announce are almost always bigger-tier, or more popular, titles as opposed to smaller cult ones. For instance, HELL NIGHT is a popular title but it's still in the small & cult category. Being that this is comic-con I presume all of the stuff they announce will probably be bigger studio titles. EFNY has been denied in the past but I think it's a strong possibility. Only way I'll get excited for this, though, is if they have a completely new scan of the film. People have praised the current transfer but I think there's lots of room for improvement.

For clues about possible titles, I would look at anything that Arrow has already released. Texas Chainsaw 2 is possible. Not sure about Last American Virgin as Shout has claimed they're not interested in 80's teen comedies.

A major coup would be Fright Night Part II

If the announcement is being made by Scream, as opposed to Shout Factory, then American Virgin is out.

Personally I'd love to see them release a few more British films, like The Vampire Lovers. I'd like a special edition of Raw Meat.

THESE I would kill for.
Especially a full uncut version of Silent Madness.
Finally found a full uncut DVD-R of the movie a couple of months back.
But its from a pan & scan VHS source. Oh well, better than having that butchered R-rated version.

Something tells me, that this might be more fitting for Vinegar Syndrome to release, now when they are getting into more obscure slashers.

I think it all depends on how well The Final Terror sells.

If it sells well, we could see them target similarly obscure slashers. Here's hoping!

I think it also depends on how big of a slasher fan Cliff Mac and the crew over at Shout really are. They went to the trouble of assembling the best-looking version of final terror using 6 prints - that alone says they're big enough fans. I think Final Terror may have been one of Shout's best sellers - it was #6 on Diabolik's best seller list for a while. Plus I saw a lot of people talk about the release on various forums

I have to choose whether or not to attend this panel, or duck out of con early to go see Garfunkel and Oates at the House of Blues up the street...

I just looked at Scream Factory's website about 3 hours ago, and the Complete Limited Edition Halloween 15-Disc Blu-Ray set is completely sold out on their website. Glad that I preordered it on May 28th through Amazon.com.
