Some big news from Scream (coming soon at least) from Facebook:
"Get set for some REALLY great new titles coming up in 2013 which we'll be beginning to start slowly announcing soon. We've been working on a deal for over a year and we're happy to report its been finalized. Some films have never been available before and some have even been requested here on the Facebook page from you guys already. We'll also be introducing some fun DVD double and triple features into our future mix as well." I'm dying to find out who the new sub-licensor is. |

In regards to the big announcement, Cliff at the Blu-ray.com forums thinks that the first title from the new sub-licensor will be announced next Friday. Then... and only then...will we find out.

I'm hoping it's Paramount...

I think Cliff confirmed over at blu-ray.com that they were only able to get two acquisitions from Paramount (The Duelists and Walking Tall trilogy). He's also said that they don't like licensing from Sony, because Sony doesn't allow new extras to be created (unless your name is Criterion). We can rule out Warner Bros/New Line, because they don't like to license to anyone.
That pretty much leaves MGM, since Shout already have deals with Universal and Fox.

MGM has the best library of MIA titles - I hope it's them. The lack of new MGM MOD announcements is a good sign...

It would be nice if they got Friday the 13th. Prom Night needs to come out as well. Seriously.

From Scream's Facebook page:
"Check back with us this Friday (and every Fri for the next few months) where we will announce one film from our new deal we teased about last week. No street date or packaging specifics, just the title itself. :-)" |
