No more James Bond 007 Blu-Rays?

Anyone has any ideas on why the studio stopped releasing additional James Bond films on Blu-Ray? While some of Bond's finest films are now available on the format such as World is Not Enough, Dr. No, For Your Eyes Only, and License to Kill, other ones such as Octopussy, Goldeneye, and The Spy Who Loved Me are not out yet. Do you think the rest of the Bond films will eventually be available on the format?

This thread should really be in the High Definition section of the forum...

I'm sure they'll eventually be released on Blu-ray. MGM is currently in financially dire straits at the moment with massive debt. They'll likely have their back catalog sold off to another studio in the near future.

Yeah, I'm definitely up for The Living Daylights, The Spy Who Loved Me, You Only Live Twice, and above all, On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

I just watched From Russia With Love last week, and it was gorgeous.

i spent an ungodly amount of money picking up the dvd box sets before they dropped down to $35 a piece at walmart and the like. i'll be damned if im gonna throw down again so soon for the blu rays. maybe later, but right now i'll just be picking up the new releases (never say never again, casino royale, and quantum of solace).

sigh...i feel the same way about my stanley kubrick box set. fuck.

Wait... wait...
Did you just refer to "The World is Not Enough" as one of "Bond's finest films"???

The most likely reason for the rest of the Bond collection not getting released on blu-ray is massive amount of debt they are dealing with. It's all but guaranteed that once they get restructured or bought up we'll see the rest of them released. Maybe I'm was being optimistic but to me it appeared that it was about to be settled a few months back, but it sounds as if they hit another set back. Let's hope it doesn't push Bond 23 any further or effect it's quality.

I nearly spit coffee on my monitor when I read that The World is Not Enough (TWINE) is one of Bond's best. You really should put up a warning before you type that. I believe I enjoy that film more than most, but TWINE is regarded by most fans as one of the worst. I have a few issues with it but I look past them and enjoy its strengths more than most Bond fans. But than again I love Die Another Day which is the consensus pick for the worst Bond film ever.

Yesterday I was reading at topic on the Mi6 forums about TWINE that you may find interesting. I wouldn't recommend reading it though. It points out some flaws you may not have noticed and lessen your enjoyment of future viewings. You may want to check out their forum as they are always up on the latest Bond happenings.

I'm on the fence on how I plan on obtaining the rest of the Bond films on Blu. I'd like to hope that I could hold out for the eventual 20 film boxset, but if it isn't released as soon as they start back up, I doubt I'll have the willpower to refrain from picking up Goldeneye, OHMSS, TSWLM and TLD.
