I was one who shelled out cash (about $10) for the orignal Blu release of Predator. I will double dip and buy this Ultimate edition. It sounds sweet. Since I got the first so cheap, I'll give it away as an X-mas gift since I haven't opened it yet.

I'll get this one. Didn't buy the bare bones, but I do have the CE DVD. Not sure that I've ever watched that version.

Hearing bad news about the new transfer. Someone has reviewed the German release of this new addition and the new transfer means that Fox have DNR'd the film to get rid of the grain rather than actually do a decent master. Carl Weathers is supposed to look like a wax figure.
Really hope this isn't the case as I was looking forward to this. |

Blu-Ray transfers differ in every country. Look at City Of The Living Dead.

He looked like a wax figure on my old VHS and every other version I've ever seen (almost all of them), so why would this be different?
![]() A bit too much make-up and mist/greese to bring out those muscles has always made his character look a bit un-natural to me, seriously. This could easily be a person reviewing who has never seen the film or knows anyone in it. |

That has to be fake. No one can think that looks good. They wouldn't release it looking like that. Would they?

Anyone could have done that in Photoshop. Until some links of verification are offered from exactly where they came from...I wouldn't trust that shit yet.

I read this review the other day: http://www.dvdtown.com/review/predator/blu-ray/8207 , and I couldn't wait for the Blu to reach my doorstep.
I just read the Blu-Ray.com review and I'm thinking of sending the thing back to Amazon. That second screen cap looks like a CG Arnold. Good god, what were they thinking?

sweet jesus christ, thats the ugliest thing ive ever seen.
i love how the dvdtown reviewer refers to the transfer as cleaning up some "excessive grain". what does that mean? "excessive grain"? is that like removing "excessive brush-strokes" from a painting? maybe there's "excessive bass" in the opening titles of 2001: A Space Odyssey? we should remove that too! for fucks sake, there's no such thing as "excessive" grain. there's just grain. different from digital noise. grain is there, its what makes up the image. if its a grainy film, then its a grainy film. idiot. (sorry, i know im preaching to the choir here, but fuck that pisses me off) |
