Hauer gave an odd interview recently where he said the script is pretty much a remake of Coppola's Dracula. If that's the case, I really don't see the point--unless Argento jettisons all the ridiculous romantic nonsense that made "Bram Stoker's Dracula" one of the most inappropriately titled films of all-time

The way that excert reads I'm not sure he's talking about the 90's film so much as the Stoker novel. He says it's like a remake of the "Stoker one'',maybe I'm wrong but I would've thought he would have said the "Coppolla one'' if he were reworking that adaptation.

I hope you're right. But I'm not getting my hopes up. He specifically chose the word "remake" and said it's the same "script."

I wouldn't count on Argento removing the love story elements. Based on his interview he said that that's the part of the story that attracts him the most.

Ugh. I'm preparing for a train wreck of Phantom of the Opera-like proportions.

Why don't any of these damned directors actually READ STOKER'S NOVEL?

I liked the romantic bits added to Coppola's film, although I do agree the title was a bit misleading. Still, it was the film that was closest to what was in the novel, even with the liberties Coppola took.

I think the book, if adapted faithfully, would be perceived as rather sexist in this day and age. The women are portrayed as rather helpless and defenseless and only the tough and smart men could save the day. At least Coppola's film gave a little bit of power to Mina character, as misguided as it may be.

I agree with shape22, this will probably end up being horrible. I've given up on Argento. The last thing of his that I thought was above mediocre was Do You Like Hitchcock and that wasn't even that good.

A pre-sales "trailor" has been posted on YouTube. Please note that this is far from the finished product; looks like sound mix, colour correction, and of course special fx are far from finished when the trailer was made. And it looks overly lit to properly accommodate the loss of light when projected 3D. So holding out proper judgement until I see a proper trailer or the film itself.

When this gets released on DVD and Blu-ray it should come with a voucher for a free fifth of liquor. At least it's good to see Bubo the owl working again.

I don't think it looks too bad but then again I'll watch anything Argento does.

Shit looks hilariously bad...and considering everything he's done in the past decade has been flat-out bad, that's a good thing. Giant Mantis FTW
