The Town that Dreaded Sundown (sequel/remake)

It's a remake disguised as a sequel, looks pretty damn cool!

There's going to be a free screening at the Egyptian Theater in L.A. on October 4th. Too bad I'm not there.

Otherwise, looks like it's going straight-to-VOD in mid-October. Shame, there's not really anything opening in October, could have been a fun trip to the movies.

Love the original and I am very much looking forward to this…but not a fan of the one sheet. The Phantom looks awesome though!

Nice! Surprised it took this long. It'll be interesting to see how it stacks against the original.

I admit, I didn't have high hopes for this when I first heard about it, but that trailer didn't look half bad.

I was going to say, based on the trailer, it seems more like a sequel.

But why are we calling him the Boogeyman instead of the Phantom Killer?

I wonder if they'll try to tie the killer back to Youell Swinney.

I'm thinking you will see traces of the original in the movie. Perhaps the killer (a copycat....?) performs the same kills, etc..

Regardless, I can't wait!

You can actually see the poster for the original film in the background of one shot.

yeah, i was all ready to be hard on this, but it looks kinda decent. I like Veronica Cartwright, and the Phantom has a pretty great presence. Even the overly demonic voice sort of works, especially if there's some kind of supernatural element. the one sheet seems to be ripping off cabin fever though, oddly.

The official release info calls it a sequel or at least a carry on from the original events that the first film was based on. Certainly not a remake.

They called Texas Chainsaw 3D a sequel too and it might as well have been a remake. I don't think that means anything at this stage. Plus as MisterTwister mentioned, you can see the poster for the original film in the trailer making it less likely that this is a sequel.
