Brad Dourif will be the voice of Chucky in the remake. It was confirmed a long time ago.

If Bradley isn't going to be there then get rid of pinhead. Honestly, the mythos behind all this is pretty grand to stick behind the same old bullshit each time. Honestly, forcing Pinhead in each fucking movie nearly ruined every movie after part 3. I liked 5 quite a bit, but not because of him. I actually want him to go away.

They should ask Robert Englund. Why not right?

If it's a sequel, it will undoubtedly be straight to video, in which case I'll pass. I haven't enjoyed a Hellraiser film since Hellbound. Sad, because the original, in my eyes, is a masterpiece.

I must admit a fair bit of liking for Hellraiser: Inferno. While the basic "twist" of the main character coming to realize the true nature of his "reality" was hardly a new idea (and has been done better before and since), it was major story quality improvement over the half baked shlock fests of the other films that followed Hellbound. If I dropped 4 of the 8 Hellraiser films from my collection, I might also keep Deader, but if I kept just 3 I'd drop that one before Inferno.

The last two straight to video for sure. Maybe more of them were as well. I own them all and love them for some reason. It will not be the same without Doug Bradley and I will have my reservations.

All of them after Bloodline have been DTV. So, half the series. Part 9 will be too, without a doubt.

I'm a big fan of Hellraiser: Inferno and find it to be really underrated. However, the next three entries were all awful. I may or may not see this. If it gets a Blu-ray release, I'll stick it in my Netflix Queue. I'm pretty much done with DVD.

I think that, as a whole, the Hellraiser series is actually reasonably under-rated, but I think that some of the sequels fall into the "decent-good movie when based on its own merit" catagory (much like the criminally under-rated masterpiece Halloween III). My thoughts on the series :

- Hellraiser : Masterpiece. Pretty much the perfect supernatural horror film in my eyes. Completely, mind-blowingly outstanding

- Hellbound : Hellraiser II : If there's a film that can best be used as a visual aid in which to describe how nightmares look and feel, it's this film. I love almost every aspect of it, and it works so well with the original that the 2, together, are normally referred to as the same movie in my household.

- Hellriaser III : Hell on Earth : I know that this may sound lame, but this movie is entirely too "American" for me. The first 2 had a certain british charm (being made in England probably helped, lol) while this entry just feels like an over-the-top American franchise comedy-tinged horror flik with goofy situational humor and one-liners around every corner. It's more like a later "Nightmare on Elm Street" sequel than a "Hellraiser" sequel to me. Not one of my favs.

- Hellraiser : Bloodlines : I'm torn on this. The Yager directed backstory of the box and its maker is a great flik with some inventive special effects and, most of all, an engaging story. The added wrap-around, sci-fi material? Just not feeling it in the least.

- Hellraiser : Inferno : While not an original concept (very much of "Jacob's Ladder" influence), it certainly is an interesting film. For starters, it looks beautiful. Beyond that, the special effects are, for the most part, top-notch. The twist at the end? Again, it's been done before and done better but it's certainly handled well here. It gets back to the initial concept of the cenobites doing what they do, as opposed to being Pinhead's show, which is a plus.

- Hellraiser : Hellseeker : If this suffers from anything, it's that it's a bit too similar story-wise to "Inferno". That said, it's pretty much saved by 2 things : The first is Dean Winters' performance. The guy is a good actor and he really goes for it here. He plays the confused/scared/angry protagonist to a T here and delivers on all levels in spades. The other saving grace is the return of Ashley Lawrence as Kristy. It also caps off Ashley's story in a pretty solid way, which is a nice addition.

- Hellraiser : Deader : Ok, I have to admit that I've only seen this one once and I wasn't interested in it from frame 1. It just looked like a straight-to-VHS title from 1994. Everything from the look of the actors to the look of the sets to the over-all cinematography just felt cheap, dated, and cheese-ball. The gang/cult angle? It had potential, but I just don't feel that it came anywhere close to achieving it. Easily my least favorite in the series.

- Hellriaser : Hellworld : This movie was a cool little flik. Sure, the video game set-up and dated tech lingo were kinda cheesy, but it was pulled off pretty well by a solid ensemble cast and was capped off by a great performance from Lance Henriksen. I actually didn't see the twist coming at all, and felt pretty fresh to me. The ending left a bit to be desired, and the tagged on-bit at the very end was just a sad excuse to shoehorn Pinhead into the film, plain and simple. With the exception of the last 10 minutes or so, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. That said, if it wasn't for the fact that the game in the movie was based on the cenobites and the tagged-on ending, it certainly could have been released as a non-franchise film.

Sorry for all of the long winded-ness. That the end of my side-track, my bad....

doug bradley response to the fast moving 9th film in fanchise

Every since the ninth film in the Hellraiser franchise, Hellraiser: Revelations, was announced there's been one question on everyone's mind - Will Doug Bradley be returning to play Pinhead? Can you really even imagine a Hellraisier movie without him? We went straight to the man himself for an answer and got his official statement.

"I know that many of you will have caught up with the sudden burst of Internet chatter about a new Hellraiser film going into production, and will be keen to know whether I’ve been approached to play Pinhead again, so here’s the deal ..." says Bradley.

"I have been approached just in this last week (w/b 16 August) regarding a proposed new Hellraiser film. This is not the ‘remake’ which has been endlessly discussed for the last three years: with the working title Hellraiser: Revelations, it will be the ninth film in the series. I would stress that I have had no contact from, or negotiations with, anyone from Dimension Films: rather these contacts have been by way of private discussion with individuals involved with this project."

Bradley continues, "Following these discussions, and after reading the script and giving it due consideration, I have decided not to participate. The ink is barely dry on the script, and it is scheduled to be in front of the cameras in two weeks time and in the can by the middle of next month (September 2010). The miniscule shooting schedule is more than matched by the budget."

"Whether or not this means that somebody else will be stepping up to play Pinhead, I have no idea. I guess we can watch this space together ..."

"One way or another, this does not seem to me to represent a serious attempt to revive the Hellraiser franchise. However, I wish everyone who will be directly involved in the making of this film, good luck with it."

Good for him! I hope they let Pinhead rest in peace. Bring about some other mutilated bastard that will speak in broad platitudes and its a go.
