If you?re talking open matte then you can say they matted the picture.

Don?t forget that many widescreen movies were shot open matte so the director could matted then later for a cinematic release.

Before with SD video they were taking a square peg and putting it in a round hole. Now in HD they're taking a square peg and putting it in a square peg. They don't need to crop or zoom or anything.

I'm really excited for The Exterminator, but I think I'm holding out for something in the $15 range.

Now I have seen The Exterminator many many years ago. So I vaguely remember it.

Here's the question. Is the movie really that as advertised, or is it the name/title and box cover that is cooler than the movie itself? I can't put my finger on it, but there was something about the movie that didn't thrill me. Was it the main character that was kinda boring. or am I totally off? Not that Robert Ginty was a bad actor, it's just he didn't act or look as cool as the poster.

Cause I want to pick up the Blu-ray, so I'm asking for opinions before I buy.

I haven't seen the flick in years, but I really enjoy the film so I think it lives up to it's title and box cover. The sequel is a lot of fun too.

Sidenote: DiabolikDVD has a few copies currently IN STOCK. I just placed an order for the Blu-ray.

its good, but dont expect wall to wall action, or non stop. And Ginty isnt a bad ass, just a everyman type. Problem with the film is they could have cut down on a boring sub plot between Christopher George and Samantha Egger that actually sloooooows the movie down to a screeching halt at times.

Thanks for the input. And that DiabolikDVD seems to get releases earlier than most.

Maybe that's what I was thinking, about Ginty being a everyman type. I like the way you put it. Thanks.

Arrow Video will also be releasing The Exterminator on Blu-ray in the UK: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=7199

It looks like the extra features will be more intensive, but how the transfer (along with Maniac Cop) will compare to Synapse's release remains to be seen.

^ Thanks for the heads up, Kat!

If the Arrow transfer is up to par, I might have to go with that for the extras.

Well since Barnes and Noble went ahead and cancelled my Burial Ground Blu, and I still had some Groupon to use I went ahead and pre-ordered The Exterminator Blu for only $10 shipped.
