I'm happy enough with the old Elite DVD for the original film, and it's not something I watch too often.
If the reviews show the Blu-ray to be a big improvement, I might bite...but probably only when it hits $10 or less.

I still have the VHS of the original, so this would definitely be an upgrade for me!

I'm glad Anchor Bay is releasing the 1978 classic, too! This is one step foward for the return of Anchor Bay releasing classics once again (not that there's anything wrong with the Anchor Bay now).

I'm an owner of the Elite Millennium Edition as well. Not sure if it is a film I feel the need to upgrade to in high def, but if it doesn't include the excellent Joe Bob Briggs commentary then it will be an easy pass.
I'm curious about the remake though as it seems to have gotten decent word of mouth.

Back in the day, the original ISOYG was one of those movies that I would rent every now and then, and show to friends who hadn't seen it, for shits and giggles. "Feels so good it hurts" gets 'em every time. I've never owned a copy though, so I might pick it up if the price is right, or if it's actually a two-pack or double feature w/ the remake.
Speaking of the remake, it played midnight shows in my area for a couple of weeks, while Hatchet II (also unrated, that I was really looking forward to) came and went very quickly. What gives?

Just so some people know, the original 1978 film will also come to DVD the same day:
http://www.amazon.com/Spit-Your-Grav...590556&sr=1-17 It's also kinda obvious the remake will come to DVD. Still, here's the pre-order link for the DVD: http://www.amazon.com/Spit-Your-Grav...9590513&sr=1-1 |

I never bought the original DVD, so I will definitely pick this up. Haven't seen this one since renting the VHS.

Never picked the original up on DVD or even watched the AB VHS I bought, the only time I saw this movie was back when I rented it and I've never really had much desire to watch it again despite thinking it was alright. I'll probably pick the original up on BD anyway though, I'm bound to want to watch it again at some point so why not have it in HD?

Own the original on DVD. Not one of my most watched dvds...
But I can't wait to see the remake. Heard a lot of good things about it. |

I'm surprised so few of you have checked out the Millenium Edition from Elite. My '02 review of it: http://www.horrordigital.com/viewart...?articleid=411
If you have even a passing interest in the film, the Millenium is a must own. The two commentaries are required listening.
