Halloween,Hellraiser and Children of the Corn sequels will be coming to blu-ray

Finally some long awaited sequels will be making their hi-def debuts thanks to a new deal between Echo Bridge Entertainment and Miramax! Franchise completists' wallets will be burning all over the country!

According to The Hollywood Reporter Miramax has entered into a domestic distribution agreement to have Echo Bridge Entertainment distribute 251 of its titles on DVD and Blu-ray.

The films include selected titles from such franchises as Halloween, Hellraiser and Children Of The Corn.

Echo Bridge chairman and president Michael Rosenblatt said they are excited about adding these titles to their library because “many have tremendous star power and are cult classics.”

Miramax CEO Mike Lang said that although many of these movies have been around for years “in many cases” they “have never been fully exploited.”

Look for more on what's coming and when soon!

but they mostly do public domain stuff, don't they? does this mean we're going to see wretched transfers of these films with zero supplements? i sure hope not.

i suppose they're talking about halloween's 6-8, and hellraiser...what? bloodline and onward? or do they control hellraiser 3 as well?

the only way i can see myself picking up any of the children of the corn sequels is if they go all the way and put every single one of them into a very cheap set.

At least Echo Bridge blu's are cheap, you can get Mega-Piranha for $5 at Best Buy and that was the price from the day it came out! That one doesn't look bad, but has no extras.

I think Paramount has Hellraiser 3, Miramax has the ones after that.

I guess this is good news. As bigdaddyhorse stated, Echo Bridge BDs are dirt cheap. I just hope the PQ is up to far. I have seen a few discs from EB and they weren't all that great. I damn sure want the Halloween sequels though!

Edit: Oh sh*t, just remembered that EB doesn't always use lossless audio tracks. I'll be pissed if they omit them from the Halloween sequel BDs.

I'm not entirely too excited about Echo Bridge releasing these...

I would have assumed that Starz/Anchor Bay would have jumped on these films if available. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Echo Bridge is shit. Shout! Factory made a bid for these apparently, but EB came up with more coin.

As long as the transfers are good, it's fine with me. I have a few Echo Bridge Blu-rays, and the quality is decent enough for budget releases.

Could be worse. Could have been Timeless Media Group

I own one Blu-ray double feature from Echo Bridge, Mortuary/Salvage. Mortuary looks really good in HD. Salvage on the other hand wasn't a stunner visually, but it was filmed with some sort of video cam I think.

So true! Echo Bridge would seem like Criterion compared to TMG.

After that horrible ass Curtains DVD, I have little hope for anything they put out. I was really hoping that with Lions Gate doing all the Miramax movies maybe there was a chance that we would see a legit release of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers Producers Cut. But I guess that won't be happening anytime soon.
In terms of the the direct to video Children of the Corn and Hellraiser sequels it is no big shock to see them get dumped to BD this way...after all these movies are not all that different from the full moon franchise moves that Echo Bridge has released on DVD in their triple feature packs. But somehow I expected a bit more for the Halloween movies. All were theatrical releases, and H20 did huge box office.

Blu-ray.com mentions that this deal also includes the From Dusk Till Dawn trilogy.

If anyone is interested, some of the non-horror titles include:
Tsotsi
Marvin's Room
Music of the Heart
Becoming Jane
(which is already available on blu-ray)

provided hellraiser 3 isn't included in the batch, then the hellraiser and children of the corn movies actually make sense to me. the more i think about it, this might be a good thing as far as those films go. seeing them for super cheap might actually get me to pick them up.

i agree about the halloween sequels, though. surprising given the high profile of the last two (especially H20). and its disappointing that curse of michael myers won't have the opportunity to come out in the producer's cut. i think a small scale release of that would do very well.
