So did anyone else check this out yesterday? It's not playing in theaters in my area so I plunked down $8 for a 3D VOD rental. It was a ton of fun and was exactly what I expected after watching the trailer. It's not a great movie by any means but I think most people who enjoyed Aja's Piranha 3D will have a good time with this one. Well worth $8 and I will definitely pick it up when it hits BD/DVD.

I did and enjoyed the hell out of it. Doesn't touch Aja's film but it's a lot of B-movie fun none the less.

I plan on watching it tomorrow night. Haven't decided yet if I want to pen a review of it, yet, though.

Its not in theaters in my area. I am thinking about on demand, but I wanted to watch in 3-d and that is not an option for my home viewing. Bummer...

Same here, and if yahoo movies is correct, there is not a single screening in my fucking state!

If there's a reasonablely priced 2d on demand (I have Comcast and haven't looked yet) then I'll probably check it out tonight. If it's like $10 for VOD, I'll wait for Blu.

Checked Comcast:
$7 is the perfect grey area of price, which I might just pay for the 2D VOD. 3D is a buck more here, but I don't have a 3D set-up so that can't happen.
After searching the web, I can't find a theater this is playing at all. Nothing in MI is confirmed with other sites like Fandango and CinemaBlend, and nothing in North Ohio either, which would be just close enough to jusitify...
What to do? Guess it's off to reviews and such. IMDB says it's 1.85 ratio which means at least the VOD won't be cropped, if that's correct. Anyone who saw it (esp theaters), what was the ratio?

For the horrordvd members that have seen it, how does the gore and T&A compare to the first?

The gore and T&A do not even match up to the original. There is definitely a good dose of both though. But that is what makes this movie so awful. It is not even fun to watch this film. The director is so terrible. The original Feast was great because there was so much intervention. When that was gone, you get the sequels to show his real inabilities. The first Piranha 3D was just so go good for what it was that I would recommend skipping the sequel entirely. It is not even worth a rental or on demand experience. As for the 3D experience, it too is not as effective. Really, this film is not worth watching even for free.

I'm sick to death of 3D anyway. I agree that the original Feast was awesome, never bothered with the sequels.
Thanks for saving me some bucks, my buddy wasted some cash today taking me to the Chernobyl Diaries, won't make the same mistake with this one.

I disagree with x666 's review in terms of the nudity and the 3D effects. There's a ton of nudity in the sequel but it's mainly at the beginning and end. There's not as much full frontal (though there is some) but you'll see plenty of boobs. Piranha 3DD was actually shot in 3D and wasn't post converted so I was more impressed with the 3D ... even while watching at home on my 3D TV. I saw the first one in the theater and thought the 3D was a complete waste. The gore isn't as impressive but I didn't expect it to come close to Aja's gorefest. It's still very bloody but just on a much smaller scale. All in all, I think most people who found the first one to be fun will get a kick out of the sequel.

IMDB (always filled with errors) says this one came out in a 1.85 ratio. They also used to list that for Feast 2 and 3, both of which are really 2.35, so I doubt them at best. Also, that's the ratio Gulager likes as all his previous work was shot it in.

Plus the first film was 2.35, so everything but imdb tells me this should be 2.35 as well, which almost always gets cropped to 1.78 for cable. Now I just need to know what ratio it is on cable, and if possible, if anyone caught a theater showing what ratio was it there?

But most 3D movies (ones actually shot in 3D) are filmed in 1.85. Patrick Lussier, for example, who shot all his Dracula 2000 films in 2.35 shot his 3D movies (MBV and Drive Angry) in 1.85.

So no it's not cropped for cable. Unless someone can confirm otherwise.

I'm buying it tonight on HD, and generally HD showings are LBX. It's the standard buys that crop the flick to basically full frame. Isn't Gulagar's work mostly 1.85:1? Have to check my FEAST DVD to be sure.

Oddly, though, HBO does like to crop some of their 2.35:1 movies to 1.78:1. And, I hate that.
