Remember though, that 8 disc DVD box set released in 1999 was put out by New Line. Warner Bros. is handling these BD releases. The New Line of today isn't the same New Line of the past. It basically exists in name only as it is a part of Warner Bros. now.

The fact that WB is going the double feature route with these films on BD seems to suggest that they don't have much faith and/or pride in the Nightmare sequels and think of them as "lesser" titles from their library. And being that they are double feature releases I wouldn't expect any bonus materials. Maybe trailers...but that's it. I suppose we should just be thankful that they're being released on BD at all. Look at Paramount. I don't guess we'll ever get Friday the 13th parts 4-8 on BD.

Yeah, WB hasn't given a fuck about this series yet. Thankfully a nice BD of the first film made it out, but what happened to the series when WB took over NL? The boxset that stayed in print for 10 years + goes OOP and on the cheap racks, then they throw all the films onto those "4 film favorites" cheap packs and there they will die. Nothing comes back from the 4 pack, once you're in that, they don't care about you anymore. They never cared about any of the Nightmares except maybe the first, and that was probably only to tie into the remake!

It also makes sense as other BD offerings that once hit the 4 packs are also on double features, like Last Boy Scout/Last Man Standing. Just be happy they will be in HD at all and hope for a decent transfer.

Although some WB double features such as (Dirty Harry Films & 13 Ghosts & House of Wax have all their bonus features intact) so heres hoping.

^ House Of Wax / Thirteen Ghosts Double Feature even had 2-discs. It is doubtful that will be the case here, but we won't know until more is announced.

That was also a Best Buy exclusive, which really just put two BD's together (even though Ghosts never got a solo HD release, so it's inclusion of features is almost weird) under a new cover. The features are only there as they were before. Had they struck a new master to put both on single disc, the features would've been gone! Same with the Dirty Harry films. The DH boxset stopped selling, so they repackaged it for cheap. Thankfully they did good masters first. With Nightmare it feels like they are starting cheap.

I hold out hope, but won't hold my breathe that the Nightmare sequel discs will be given decent treatment.

I don't think it was a BB exclusive, but House of Wax was released on its own in 2006. Then, it was like WB didn't have much faith in Thirteen Ghosts selling well by itself, so it was packaged with HoW 4 years later. Warner has gone the other route more often than not, with 2 movies on 1 disc. The only release that sort of gives me hope is the Dungeons & Dragons set, because it seems to be the exception (not counting the various Clint Eastwood releases, and a few others like the Thirteen Ghosts/HoW BD).

Well I'm still hoping that Warner does the right thing & puts the films on their own discs.

We're all right! I remember now. It started as an exclusive at Best Buy for the first few weeks or months, then went mass market just like the Boogie Nights BD.

It's up for preorder for $13.99 on Amazon. At that price, even if Warner rehashes old hd transfers for this release, I think it's worth the buy.

Oh my god! There are special features! Look at the back of the box (sorry, my iPad doesn't allow for posting pictures in forums). http://www.amazon.com/Nightmare-Stre...d_bxgy_d_img_b

11 Featurettes (4 for Part 2 and 7 for Part 3).

Wow, that's a hearty selection of featurettes, too! Considering the featurettes and interviews these films have had thanks to the Nightmare Encyclopedia DVD and the Never Sleep Again documentary, I'm wondering if any of these new featurettes will be sourced from that stuff, or if this is all fresh material. Either way, a cheap two pack with a bunch of extras of a couple seminal slasher pictures? SOLD!

Also, it's good to know the lame duck copy writer of the Blu-ray for the first film is back with more inane puns and quips. "Well, nite nite, hotties!"

...'the fuck?
