Not a great movie, but it has its moments. I gave it bonus half points for nostalgia and the creepy score. I should deduct points for Linda Hamilton's motel room song and dance number, but it adds to the nostalgia factor despite being embarrassingly cheesy.
The early slaughter scene in the diner is great and Isaac is one of the creepiest evil children in movie history. But the ending is beyond weak and the two "good" kids are annoying. Actually, so is hero Peter Horton. I wish they had left the supernatural element out and just focused on the cult of evil children and how dangerous religious obsessives can be. Probably would have been better as an hour-long 80s "Twilight Zone" than a full-length feature. |

The diner massacre is cool but other than that I always thought those kids are pretty lame.
They don't come off very threatening and as chancetx mentioned, the two "good kids" are annoying. Weak movie but with lots of nostalgic cheese.

Bought the blu-ray since I hadn't seen in the film in 20 plus years. Even though I like Linda Hamilton I just couldn't get into the film. Gave it a 5.

I gave it a 7.5, just cause of the fact that's based on a Stephen King story. not only that but I like Linda Hamilton. I just thought the story had so much potential & they copped out at the end.

its a weak movie, but i find it strangely watchable. in no way is it good, but i have memories of when, as a kid, i discovered what it was about. i found the idea very creepy, and that feeling carries over, despite the films lack of quality. 5.5

I bought it on blu last year I think and it really has not aged well- not that it wasnt low budget and a bit corny in 84 as well. But dangit as a kid I loved it and I still do - solid 8 from me

Pretty dated, I agree. Still entertaining enough to warrant a 7 out of 10.

5.
Some really great atmosphere, the music was great, some of the death scenes were brutal, and a couple of the kids were great too. But the ideas needed work, the extras playing the background followers sucked, the ending dragged, the dialogue got really stupid about the time Burt tried to "de-program" the kids out of killing the adults, and... well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX5A2Yd90pg

One of the worst Stephen King film adaptations (though I love me some Linda Hamilton). |

The movie is so annoying, the kids aren't scary at all. I keep trying to get into this movie but I always get pissed off before the ending. I always make it to the end though so it gets an extra point for that. Gave it a 2

7.5 for me. This flick got a lot of play in my early days via VHS recorded from HBO. Have to agree with HellBilly as I too love the Diner scene, but there are definitely some parts that drag on. The Blu deserved a spot on my shelf. Cool poster too.
