I skipped this set because I already own everything in it, sans Barry Lyndon and Lolita, which I got separately from Amazon. I don't own the Anniversary Edition of A Clockwork Orange but the transfer is the same as the 2007 Blu-ray, and extras don't really mean anything to me anymore (certainly not enough to double-dip on a Blu-ray that doesn't have a new, better transfer). I can assume that the same will be true for next year's releases of Full Metal Jacket and Lolita: same transfers, new extras and / or packaging.

You see? Perfect (except they don't get Sparticus or Dr. Strangelove). I left someone at Warner Bros a voicemail. I hope they call back.

That'll be three edition of Full Metal Jacket to boot. I'm a little pissed off about Lolita because that's a favorite Kubrick of mine, but if they stick to the same transfer I'll live without all the bells and whistles.

Matt, I thought you loved Warner?

But, yeah it is pretty shitty. Luckily I haven't bought the Lolita Blu-ray yet...and won't be.

Well, Warner was cool about it. They're sending me a return envelope so I can send the scratched disc back for another copy. Consider me happy. Regarding the upcoming releases of Full Metal Jacket and Lolita, I'll stick with the versions in this set as long as there isn't a new transfer.

its good news (for those of us who didn't buy the new box) that lolita and full metal jacket are getting new SE's, but the one i'm most interested on blu ray, Barry Lyndon, is the only one left as a barebones release. whats the deal?

I don't get it either. The good news is that it's a very good transfer.

I just really took a closer look at all of the discs in this set (in better light), and they're all scratched. I contacted Warner again about a full replacement. I really want to promote this set, but it's difficult. Thankfully it's limited.

That doesn't seem like a solution to me, though, because you're still stuck taking one of two undesirable routes. Either A) you put the new disc back in the set again, where it will get scratched, again. Or B) You keep all the discs in separate blu cases which kind of destroys the convenience of the box set and takes up a fuckload of space.

I have them in five double sided amarey blu-ray cases. It's almost the same size on the shelf.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is there is still the fact that you even have to keep them in separate cases. The box that you paid $100 for is useless.

yeah, i can't imagine ever doing that. people have complained about the alien blu ray package, although i love it. i'm just extra careful when i remove one of the discs. its better than the 8-foot-long foldout that came with the dvd "quadrilogy" (i still think that's an incredibly stupid word).

I hear what you're saying, but I'm not someone who cares about packaging. I waiting to buy these films until this collection came out. I want my discs to be immaculate, so I'll either print out the separate covers or Photoshop something myself.
