I can think of far worse countries when it comes to severe editing and censorship.....

UK is definitely a prime example. You can also add Germany.

At least censorship in the USA isn't mandatory. Well, that is until moral extremists like Michele Bachmann get porn banned.

i live in the UK and i can say that censorship here has changed dramatically over the past 20 years, yes there is still censorship but not to the levels they were before, with most things being release untouched, i think it is actually the US that has some of the more serous censorship problems now, and your censorship affects the rest of the wold for example look at the hills run red, cut in the US, it's that cut version that's released everywhere else, i've never seen the uncut release but i believe there would be no problem with it here in the UK, also look at the recent Hatchet 2 debarcle, it was release here in the UK uncut without a problem, there in the US well you know the rest.

Well, if we want to get technical, Peter Jackson was the one who decided to cut seven minutes from his original version. The 97 minute version is his preferred version. As for the R-Rated cut, meh, that was just made for places like Blockbuster and is no doubt the much less seen version of the film.

As for this blu-ray, I'm doubtful until I hear official word from Lionsgate, but man do I want this to be true.

At least any censorship that occurs in the US is a result of a decision made by the distributor or producer and not a result of a state organization demanding cuts or the film will be refused classification and not be able to be released ANYWHERE. Yeah, Hatchet 2 got pulled by AMC probably due to a combination of low ticket sales, angry Soccer Moms, and Adam Green pissing off the MPAA, but we did get it uncut and untouched on video, the way it was meant to be seen. Yet something like the new Human Centipede movie can't be released AT ALL in Britain.

What are you talking about?

Im not saying "censorship" as a mandatory cut to serve a country law, Im talking "censorship" to make an edit more friendly to some public.

No word from Lionsgate yet but another retailer added the title to their site.

Not sure why you doubt this. Walmart is first to list a lot of upcoming BDs.

Always doubt until you hear it from the horse's mouth. You'll be less disappointed in the end.

I love the dubbed version since it's the one I grew up with. It was quite a revelation when I finally did get to see it with the original Aussie soundtrack though- made it seems much less low-budget.

It doesn't mention about being barebones. And I hope the version they're describing is the Unrated Cut.
