That never happened on DVD, even when Jackson-Mania was in full force during the LOTR years, so I don't see why it would happen on blu-ray.

I really, really wanted the full Braindead but it may be a pipedream short of an overseas release. The price is pretty good, though, so I'm still looking forward to seeing it in high def and with a lossless mix to upgrade from the crappy Dolby 2.0 on the US dvd.

I definitely can see a European distributor putting out the 104-minute cut on blu, but I doubt anyone is going to go balls to the walls with multiple versions, seamless branching, and a bunch of extras. Well, maybe SOME extras.

I don't really understand the big deal about the Braindead cut. Yeah it had some extra gore in the lawnmower scene but the pacing is much better in the US unrated cut.

I love the title Braindead - Dead Alive sounds silly. A nicely remastered Blu-ray of the longest version and some extras would be a dream come true. Can't Peter Jackson take an hour or two away from Hobbits to provide some insight into the making of this film?

Thanks for posting the link. A bit disappointing to say the least but as this is a truly enjoyable film I can't complain about pre-ordering the blu. At less than $11.00 including tax and shipping it's worth it even at a slight upgrade.

For the $10 I paid, I can't complain. Maybe Arrow or somebody will come out with something better, but in the meantime this will do me just fine.

While I believe Lionsgate could have improved a bit, either by sourcing from the original negative or by tweaking the transfer they had, I’m hard-pressed to think they could have improved upon it drastically. For the $13 it presently demands I’d say this looks good enough, and substantially more accurate to the source materials than some other recently lauded presentations (I’m looking at you Zombie and House By the Cemetery).

They don't believe any DNR has been applied and if anything they make it sound like Lionsgate didn't touch it at all. I got it for $10.49 and didn't own it on DVD so I'm satisfied. I watched it in October keeping the 1.66:1 intended ratio in mind and never had any issue with the framing.
