How do you organize/order your DVD's/Blu's?

I've go to clean up my dvd shelf soon so I thought I'd ask to see how some of you guys organize your collections. ATM mine for the most part is in alphbetical order apart from franchises which I stick together (eg. Child's Play is with other C films but Bride and Seed are with it).

I'm not sure what I want to do with my blu's atm; put them where they belong alphabetically or put them separate from my dvd's.

What do people here do?

In theory, the DVDs are alphabetical with separate sections for TV series and music/concert DVDs. However I'm out of shelf space and my overflow is piled on top of my shelves and in big shopping bags. (Too many trips to the Big Lots $3 bin.) I only have a handful of Blu-Ray and those have a separate pile. I need to clear out but I have a hard time letting them go. Yeah, I'm a hoarder.

I separate the following:

Alphabetical EVERY time:

VHS: Slashers Not Legit On DVD, Other Horror Not Legit On DVD, Select Slashers Available On DVD, The Rest, Non-Horror Not On DVD, Non-Horror...

DVD: Slashers & Gialli (1997 and back generally with some exceptions), Other Horror (1997 and back), Modern Horror, Non-Horror

So my DVDs would generally look like this:

Bava Boxset 1 & 2 / Friday the 13th Boxset / Sleepaway Camp Boxset / Alice Sweet Alice / Alone in the Dark / The Burning / Eyes of a Stranger / Four Flies On Grey Velvet / Maniac / Nightmare / Slumber Party Massacre I,II,III / Splatter University / Weekend Murders

[SPACE]

Beast in the Cellar / Carrie / Creepshow I,II / Hellraiser I,II,III,IV / The Shining / Zombi 2,3,4,5

[SPACE]

Black X-mas / Dog Soldiers / Hellraiser V, VI, VII, VIII / Identity / Inside / House of Wax / Wendigo

It should be noted that I don't actually own Hellraiser 3, 4, 5, 7 or 8. lol

I don't organize. I have way too many to keep up with that. A lot of my newer stuff is just in piles on the floor.

^ And the ass-to-mouth comment cracked me up.

Formats are not intermixed (VHS then DVD then Box Sets and TV series then Blu-ray) but all alphabetical.

DVDs: ABC by year of release (new to old).
Blu-rays: by street date. It's easy access to all the new stuff.

Mine are organized in alphabetical order and separated into movies and TV shows, so movies are all organized together, a space in between, and then all my TV shows.

All DVDs and blu-rays are together in alphabetical order, except for sequels which I put together with the originals. The only exception is the Godzilla series which is 28 movies so I keep it on a separate shelf. And I have some random VHS and DVDs I haven't watched yet, so I keep those on another shelf, and don't bother to organize them.
