New Return Of The Living Dead Blu on Sep 13th?

Anyone know anything about this?

http://www.amazon.com/Return-Living-...5793136&sr=1-7

It says one disc, so maybe it's just a re-release dropping the DVD?...

If it is why would someone want to buy a rerelease with just the blu for 15.49 when they have the combo pack with the dvd and the blu for 10.99

I must admit I have yet to buy this on blu- I have the 2001 Tartan dvd with the original audio that I have still stuck with - its vhs like quality video but I kind of prefer the original music and audio

I was thinking of buying the Blu, but have heard mixed things about the PQ. For people who own the it, is it a worthy upgrade to the DVDs?

Also, I wonder if the re-release will use the original poster art this time....

I never picked up the Collector's Edition. So I can't speak to that release. But the Blu-ray is a substantial upgrade compared to the 2002 DVD. It's not reference quality or demo material. But it's a very film-like transfer that represents the film well. Detail is much improved. And there's enough grain to confirm that it wasn't DNR'd to oblivion. I think it's well worth $10.

Here's a review with a screenshot comparison:

I'm in total agreement.

I have the recent Collector's Edition on dvd so I'm not sure this is even worth the upgrade. Still, it would be tempting.

The Amityville Horror gets re-released on that day as well, I've been wondering about what's different with these releases. Amityville was a barebones disc so maybe they're re-releasing it with the special features?

I was really hoping they'd re-release Carrie this year, seeing as how it's the 35th anniversary and all. Maybe they could actualy port over the special features from the SE DVD and give us a proper HD transfer that isn't MPEG-2. Guess that boat has fuckin sailed...

MGM/Fox are re-releasing a ton of Blu-rays right now. I really doubt anything will be new on them, except perhaps updated artwork and UPC. Warner did the same thing not long ago with a lot of their older Blu-ray releases.
