Post The Poll: Argento Films!!! UGH!, Suspria......what a waste

Indeed Suspiria is a classic but It is in no way Argento's best. It has beatiful Cinimetorgraphy along with acting etc. But the movie makes you tired, it is very boring at times, like most of Argento's films. I love Deep Red also but its not as boring as Suspiria. And if Tenebre, ARGENTO's GREATEST isn't in the lead I don't know what to say, you people need to stop listening to those people who say Suspiria and Deep Red are the best. All true horror fans know that Tenebre is his best work of art. I

I agree.. I thought Suspiria pretty much sucked aside from the beginning and the end. Let the flaming begin!

I wouldn't say that all true horror fans agree that Tenebrae is his best though.. Leave a little room for personal opinion there without condemning those of us who feel differently as not true horror fans..

If you think "Suspiria" is boring then you two can't obviously be true horror fans and may find Musicals more to your taste...

Tee-hee, only joking. Seriously though, "Suspiria" is great and it ain't a bore. Believe me, I've seen "Beyond Bedlam". I'm undecided which is better: Suspiria or Tenebrae. "Porno Holocaust" is better than both of them.

Hmmm...shouldn't this go in Polls or even Euro horror?

Either way, I think that's why there's more than one selection on the ballot: Don't like Suspiria? Don't vote for it.

I was a bit surprised that Phenomena is relegated to "other" status...

I can see why Suspiria will probably win though. Even though it is a bit slow in parts, there's not a single scene that isn't beautifully composed. Hey, maybe that's not your cup of tea, but Suspiria is a feast for the eyes, that's for sure.

Deep Red? I like that one a lot. Not too many of Dario's films make a lot of sense, but this one does. The way it goes so deep into Marc's psyche, and how his actions are conflict, and then resolution with himself, makes this a close vote, that's for sure.

Now, I'd say Tenebrae falls last on the ballot list, behind Deep Red, Suspiria, Opera and a few "others" (Phenomena, The Stendhal Syndrome). Why? Well, Tenebrae sure doesn't skimp on the blood, but I really fail to see the point of the movie. Yes, the 2 1/2 minute camera crawl over the house is a startling effect, but it doesn't mean a damn thing, other than Dario just trying to be weird. Tenebrae is an experiment in introducing characters, then killing them off. Very Fulci-esque if you ask me. And it gets old after a while. Finally, the revelation of the killer's identity is the ultimate cop-out (especially the "double killer" angle). That's one reason Deep Red is so much better. The entire mystery is openly played out on screen, yet we're as clueless as Marc. Watch it again, and everything makes perfect sense. Tenebrae only gets muddier on repeated viewings. If it wasn't for the shockingly brutal and realistic axe murders, this movie would get nowhere near the run that it does.

Paff you have the right to your own opinion but I have to disagree. I think your not understanding all the ethics behind Tenebre. You have to explore the visual elements behind the film it self. Those who don't understand are not weekminded, they just havn't fully put fourth emmense effort into the message the film tells.
