I want to see this as well, and hope it gets a limited U.S. release at the very least. The first person P.O.V. angle has me curious how the film is. And it's funny they're doing that 'gimmick' for the film, since years ago I wondered how a film could be made solely from a characters P.O.V. Though my idea was more generic and mostly a Slacker type flick that would switch from different character P.O.V.s as they pass each other on the street, and then follow that character for a bit.

I got a chance to check this out tonight and I thought it was fabulous. The score fits the sleaze and the POV style was awesome as well. The kills are brutal and loved the homages to the original.I got a huge smile on my face when I heard the first stinger of the synth score. This film reminded me of Murder Set Pieces but a whole lot better.I recommend this to all of you guys.

I have the Region B BD headed my way...should arrive this week sometime. The positive reviews have me eagerly awaiting its arrival. In anticipation I did download the soundtrack and it is indeed a sound to behold. Its a fabulous throwback synth score with traces of synthwave and a dash of Simonetti thrown in for good measure...dare I say it rivals Chattaway's original score?

If the film is half as engaging and respectful to the era as this sountrack is, I think this has all the possibilities of being one of the best remakes ever produced and could wash away some of the automatic negative conceptions towards remakes in general...that or Aja needs to be involved with every horror movie remake from this point forward.

Saw this the other night and thought it was pretty good. I was expecting a little more sleaze like the original had but it still works without. Also, there's at least two instances where the movie breaks from its POV perspective which kind of threw me out of the experience.
Spoiler:
There's some issues with characters, (mainly one) who finds out maniac's secret life a little too easily and reacts a little too over the top for someone how shouldn't be entirely sure if they're right about what they suspect. I really didn't feel like that scene worked at all and found it slightly humorous.

I also thought the train station chase scene wasn't as effective here. All that aside though I enjoyed it. Elijah Wood was great and the POV style was interesting. I'd give it a 7.5/10.

I have a reasonably decent quality copy atm (apparently 720p). I could help you out but I'm not sure how much shipping would cost.

I originally couldn't picture Elijah Wood as the said maniac. He does however look convincing in this photo.

He was pretty fucked up as a psycho in "Sin City" as well.
And looked kinda psycho in the Lord of the Rings movies, when the ring´s power made him a bit nutty towards the end.

So I never doubted him in the role.

Probably because it's doing limited theatrical first. Opens June 21st in the US.
