Iīm surprised this clip hasnīt been posted yet. The First 6 minutes of "Maniac".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=SEsIF4ALAUU Looks really promising, and I love the old-school soundtrack and the Giallo/Sleaze feel ![]() "Maniac" is one of my top 10 horror movies of all time, but even from the start I havenīt really been worried about this euro remake, and now I REALLY canīt wait to see it.

According to IMDb, it's slated for theatrical in the US via IFC Midnight. So likely will get a very limited theatrical release in the States, with VOD likely available before the run, and then home distro.

Heeeeey not bad at all. While it clearly takes place in recent times (the cars, the apparel, etc), they really captured the grimy essence of the early 80s with the lighting, locations, and the score.
Looking forward to this.

Found this clip from the film on YouTube. Great use of "Goodbye Horses".

Damn…looks like I’ll be eating crow. That opening shows great potential….still wish it didn’t have to use the title of Maniac or the character of Frank Zito. I think this could have easily existed as an original premise that merely paid tribute to the original. I think if anything, the idea of originality through homage resonates better with an audience rather than trying to piggyback on a predecessor’s notoriety and lazily branding it a “re-imagining”. Oh well...whatever sells I guess.

Like others, I had my doubts about this one. Not Elijah Wood, mind you... I think he's awesome, and this is the kind of weird shit he needs to be doing. But redoing "Maniac" in the 1st place? Will it be worthy? Is it even necessary? I gotta say, having watched both of those clips, I'll be first in line to see this. Looks amazing!!

Seriously though, how is it legal that all these clips are up? I almost don't want to watch them as it seems almost every kill has been uploaded/spoiled...

And I know what you mean, If they don't hurry up and release this thing I'll end up watching the entire movie broken up in clips.

Those clips where great, and I love how they made an homage to the original poster art in the reflection
![]() I also love how the camera seamlessly moves in and out of his POV. And THIS is how you make a fucking slasher movie.

A positive review, with the only real negatives being "too extreme" and "excessively cruel"...sounds like they might have gotten this one right. I can't wait to see it...I just hope they didn't try and go too "artsy fartsy". |

LOL do you realize the only reason you come on here is to bitch about horror films that the majority likes? I swear, there's having your own opinion, and then there's constantly 'going against the grain' just so you can stand out.
