35mm TALES FROM THE CRYPT (1972) Screening in NH - 10/27/12

Hey gang,

I just wanted to get the word out that me and the gang from SATURDAY FRIGHT SPECIAL are once again partnering with the historic Colonial Theatre in Keene, NH to present a rare 35mm screening of the 1972 Amicus horror anthology classic TALES FROM THE CRYPT on Saturday, October 27th at 8pm.

Along with the main feature, we'll be screening vintage 35mm horror trailers, giving away a tombful of prizes (t-shirts, DVDs, original horror sketches by S.R. Bissette, Denis St. John and students from the Center for Cartoon Studies in VT), having a costume contest, and whipping up a heapin' helpin' of pre-Halloween fun.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling the Colonial Theatre box office at 603-352-2033 or visiting www.thecolonial.org

At 5pm that same evening, New England paranormal investigation group Earthbound Phantom will be presenting a "Paranormal Primer" multimedia presentation, giving attendees a look inside a working ghost-hunting group, as well as playing creepy clips from their past expeditions. A few lucky audience members will also be able to join EBP in an investigation of a local haunted place immediately following the show.

Tickets for the EPB presentation are $10....OR you can get a combo ticket for the Spooktacular and EPB shows for $15.

At 4pm at the Colonial Corner (art gallery space next door to the theater), S.R. Bissette (artist of SWAMP THING, TABOO, SPONGE BOB SQUAREPANTS) will be presenting "Tales Beyond The Crypt: An Illustrated History of Pre-Code Horror Comics", a talk/slide show which looks to be a ton of fun. This presentation will be FREE!

Earlier in the day, Bissette and the CCS gang will hold a comic signing at Comic Boom in Keene, which is always a blast.

So, a pretty fully day of spooky goings-on for folks who make the trip!

Here's the video promo I just cut for the event:

Spooktacular Saturday updates!

The S.R. Bissette talk on Pre-Code horror comics has been cancelled, BUT, this allows for a longer duration for the Comic Boom! comic signing, which will be held at Comic Boom! (naturally) from 1-5pm, at 22 West Street in Keene (just up the street and around the corner from the Colonial Theatre).

Here's Bissette's blog post on the event itself:

And more details on some of the exclusive and screamtastic art that will be on sale at the event:

And here's a promo for the two Colonial events that evening, featuring two of the madmen behind the curtain:

Even more details (and photos) on Saturday's Comic Boom! comic signing with Steve Bissette and the CCS gang.

Tons of horror and halloween-related original art and comics will be on offer, and I know that I, for one, will be far poorer after that event than before it.

They also promise to shower the Spooktacular with a scintillatingly staggering array of prizes for our giveaways, most being one-of-a-kind works of art.

Can't wait! Spread the word!
