I already "have access" to the BU copy of the film in hi-def, but now I wonder if the dvd set would be worth buying for the 2nd disc of features? $44.99 is a little steep considering I don't wanna buy anymore dvds though. As for the bastardized Arrow version, anyone know if the features are at least watchable?

I wouldn't pay $45 just for the extras disc. Do you own the film already? Somebody might be willing to...ahem...help you out with the 2nd disc.

Yeah I guess you're right. I'd rather not expand on what I already stated, but I do have access to a hi-def copy at my disposal, ahem. I don't want to potentially upset the folks who moderate this wonderful forum by elaborating further. Hopefully I can check out the features one day. Now that VCI is releasing it, I guess there won't be any hope of someone like Shout Factory working their magic on another domestic release.

Preorder now up for VCI's disc.

I have the Blue Underground release, so it's not an issue for me, but it's good to have an option out there for people who didn't grab it and don't want to resort to Arrow's atrocity.

Does anyone know if the image is fixed here unlike Arrow Video's release?

Isn't VCI just using the same transfer that's on the BU BD?

That's alright then. BU had a nice looking transfer. I'll have to get this as I misses BU's release.

I sold my BU blu-ray back when I purged my movie collection to help pay for my tuition and I so regret letting this one go. The Jones/Newman commentary was awesome, that's my one gripe about this new release. Kim Newman on Argento, like Tim Lucas on Bava is simply stunning in terms of his knowledge. Fuck I really wish I never sold this one, along with Arrow's Dawn of the Dead. Went to buy it a couple weeks ago only to discover Arrow has lost the rights and the blu-ray is OOP.

I like how VCI is still milking the "widescreen" announcement on their covers.

Okay so I picked this up today, a local indie shop had it out early. What's supposed to be different about this one when compared to the BU blu-ray? People have said something about audio? I'm really bummed the commentary or features weren't carried over from the BU release but when it comes down to it, I bought this for the film and not the features. At least they used the 2.35:1 transfer.

LOL I was thinking the same thing when I picked this up off the shelf. Like yeah it better be fucking widescreen.

I could try to upload the commentary to YouTube.

It might take me awhile but I've been looking for a reason to try this out.
