Is there a way to get around expired digital copy codes?
Does anyone know if there's a way to work around the expired digital copy to get it to work? I was able to successfully redeem Paranormal Activity 1 and 2 digital copies after they "expired" so I thought maybe there's a way to get around other expired digital movie copies. It's really annoying that all of them have to expire and stores continue to sell BD/DVD movies with expired digital copies.

Smart-ass in me says just rip the movie from the dvd (or bd if you can), then you don't have all the crap that comes with dc. Of course that rewuires software which can be expensive.
I'd rather the stores keep the old bd sets than send them back when the dc expires myself. Even though I don't like dc's, I feel cheated buying a second print disc missing them and the slipcover. It would probably be a logistical nightmare for stores to send back bd/dvd's when the digital copy expires, which is why you always see them, some titles more than others. If you want, check my collection and if I have any non-expired dc codes you might want, PM me as I won't use them myself. Yours for a song, or a laugh. |

Some companies keep the codes good for longer than their dates, while others will cut it off at the date. It's always best to authorize them as soon as you get them and them rip off the DRM (I made a post regarding this a year or so ago). I've picked up a few discs before that had expired digital copies. Shit happens, I usually don't fret about it. Like bigdaddyhorse said, you can always rip the DVD.

I have absolutely no use for DC codes. I see online that some people sell them for pretty cheap, but they cannot be posted on ebay. If anyone is interested I have codes for the Jurassic Park trilogy, The Crow, Scarface 1983, and True Grit 2010. Just send me a PM if you want to buy them.

while on this topic, another thing i was wondering about was bonus features. specifically commentaries. after watching the phantasm films the other week, i was sad to think that i couldn't listen to the R2 commentary on phantasm 2. would it be legal for someone to make an mp3 of it and share it on a site like this? does the fact that i own a copy of the movie itself make a difference? |
