No go for me if there's no new transfer. Two new Featurettes won't cut it, I'll stick with the Digibook.

I will be looking forward to seeing the re-release in theaters.

No kidding. I didn't hear that. I thought that is what they were working on all along. I'll pass. Hopefully WB isn't pulling the same shit with the upcoming Dark Knight Trilogy box set. The first two films need to be remastered...badly.

For $50, this doesn't sound much better than the old Digibook Blu-ray set.

Warner are kings of re-releasing everything. They milk every damned thing for your last cent.

I would assume it Blatty's same commentary that's been around since the 25th anniversary DVD, no?

I was thinking that as i still have dvd. Hoping its a new full length one without sound effects tests. From what i remember he only commented up to the scene in the subway.

you're right about that, but looking at the list of supplements, I don't think there's any reason to assume it's a new or expanded commentary. Considering how light on new material this is, they'd probably want to promote anything even remotely new for this release, and the fact that they're not highlighting it at all makes me think its unchanged.

This seems a lot like their 30th anniversary release of Blade Runner, where it was the exact same package as their original BD collectors edition, but with different trinkets and a new image gallery as the primary selling feature.

Batman Begins yes, it does need some remastering, The Dark Knight no.

So if that is indeed accurate, it sounds like it's basically just the same transfers/encodes, but with new extras and packaging.

So much for the new digital print eh? But no big deal...the old Blu-ray transfers looked great.

Maybe the new transfer will be on next year's release

This looks like it's going to join The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind as yearly Warner cash cows. Except they wouldn't be cash cows if people wouldn't keep falling for the gimmicks.

Well, I'm glad I didn't shell out for the almost-identical OOP 2010 blu...and that I got this one when they had it for $19.96 on Amazon. Definitely looking forward to finally having this in HD.
