One of the difficulties with Blu-Ray is that, unlike DVD, much of the technology involved is still protected by patents, which means that in addition to the hefty costs of restoration, authoring and manufacturing, you also have to pay a large fee for the use of that technology. Someone who works for a replication house told me that these patents are going to start expiring in the next few years, which will bring down the costs significantly and hopefully make releases like CREATURE feasible.

Where I grew up in Maine there is a company that makes and distributes local history productions for the tourist market. Some of their more recent productions were shot in HD, and a few of these have been made available in the shops on Blu-Ray. Last time I ran into the guy who owns the company I asked him about that and he told me that he doesn't have his releases professionally manufactured, that he actually sells them as burned BD-R discs because duplication (as opposed to replication) is a way to circumvent a lot of those patent fees. I don't think that would fly with a lot of horror fans, but the tourists didn't seem to care, as he was selling a lot of them, and at very exorbitant prices.

Well another thing is that it was never an official statement either; it was an email reply a member on Bluray.com posted. So it still doesn't scream "never going to happen" to me. I wouldn't call it official just yet. Maybe I'm just optimistic though.

Horror catalog titles are hotter then ever now. I'm betting he wasn't able to work out a deal with Synapse, or anybody for that matter, maybe asking too much money, so now has put the Blu-ray on hold. I'm sure it will eventually get a Blu if the demand is there.

Anyone PM me a torrent/ download link please? It is, from what I understand, a public domain title, and I have tried like hell to legitimately buy the release. All I'm coming up with is 92-minute versions. Otherwise, I will pay someone for a rip. Thanks.

I've been curious to see this myself. I haven't had any luck finding a good torrent for this either.

It doesn't get any better than monster movies in space and the screenshots for TITAN FIND make it look like one of the best ALIEN clones out there. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the film. The sets and costumes look great and its well shot but the cast is terrible. The creature costume does allot to harpoon the film as well. Its so fake that any tension the film has built up is ruined the moment its on camera. This isn't a problem in cheap and sleazy films like FORBIDDEN WORLD, but TITAN FIND feels like it was trying to be much more. Or at the very least, it didn't go for many cheap thrills. The main plot is forgettable as well. I was hoping the film would be saved by a batshit crazy Klaus Kinski performance but even that didn't help. I got the sense that he showed up on set unannounced, grabbed a space suit, and started making up his own lines. Its delightfully bizarre but feels out place here. Malone deserves allot of credit for making a pretty film, but ultimately its boring and left me scratching my head wondering WTF.

Actress Diane Salinger mentions in the cast interview segment that she was nervous about working with Kinski because she had heard that Klaus had stuck his penis in another actress during a love scene while working on a film made just one year prior to THE TITAN FIND. Any guesses as to which film that would be? I'd assume it would be one the films listed below but I haven't seen any of them.

1985 El caballero del dragón Boetius
1985 Kommando Leopard Silveira
1984 The Secret Diary of Sigmund Freud Dr. Max Bauer
1984 Deadly Nightmares (TV Series) Kurt Hoffman
1984 The Little Drummer Girl Martin Kurtz
1984 Code Name: Wild Geese Charleton
1984 Faerie Tale Theatre (TV Series) Beast
1982 Android Dr. Daniel
1982 The Soldier Dracha
1982 Fitzcarraldo Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald - 'Fitzcarraldo'
1982 Love & Money Frederic Stockheinz

I also found the film to be dull and derivative. I couldn't help but think "Alien ripoff" as I watched it. I actually never finished it and sold off my copy for a nice profit. If it ever makes it to Blu-ray I'll grab it and give it a second chance but it's never going to do much for me.

I really hope it makes it to Blu-Ray. All I have is that lousy Diamond DVD.

Same here...If my memory serves me correct...the monster was shown very little and at the tail end.
