Clue: The Movie on Blu-Ray - 8/7/12

Clue: The Movie (Blu-Ray)

$22 bucks (as of this writing) is awfully steep for a barebones disc, if you ask me. I would love to upgrade and see Clue in HD, but I can't justify paying anything over $10-12, especially since I already have the DVD.

But, it is cool that they're releasing it at all. I remember Martin Blythe (is he even still at Paramount anymore?) saying a special edition DVD was out of the question because the old barebones DVD didn't sell very well.

Apparently, it sold enough to get a Blu-Ray release.

Anyone else excited for this one?

It didn't sell well because the extras were shit. I bought it anyway. Apparently their is another ending and several deleted scenes.

This is one of my girlfriend's favorites so she'll be excited. I've always at least liked it, seeing it first cuz Lee Ving of Fear was in it.
Hopefully it'll be in the cheap bins at Best Buy or cheap rack at Wal-Mart within weeks of release, if not week of. We'll own it, but for for $10 or less.
All the dvd has are 3 different endings and an option to randomly play one.

And that's the only special feature the Blu-Ray has as well.

Oh well.

First review. The slimy scumbags at Paramount strike again by offering an untouched "upgrade." No one will buy it because it's over $20, therefore it'll go out of print in three months and we'll be told that it didn't sell well so they'll never give it the treatment it deserves. "Clue" is a terrific film and it deserves better. With any luck Paramount will go bankrupt and a studio that gives a damn will take over their terrific catalog of films and provide them with a decent release.

A favorite of mine with a pitch perfect cast.

If it didn't sell well there wouldn't be a Blu-ray release period. I don't doubt it'll be less then $10 eventually so I'll just put it in my Amazon shopping cart until then and they'll notify me when it's in the sweet spot.

I wouldn't count on it. Paramount's titles don't stay in print long.

That's the first I've heard of a massive Blu-ray catalog that's discontinued. Which Paramount Blu-ray's are out of print?

I hear you brother, unfortunatly the big wigs at Paramount have always been embarrased by the Friday the 13th films, and I'm surprised at the many DVD releases as well as the excellent transfers and extras the first two blu-rays received. While the third film contains a dreadfull transfer, I give them credit for trying with the 3D as well as the extras. That being said, I hope if they release the remaining films, they don't half-ass it like "Clue" here.

Clue is actually a very popular movie. The Blu-ray will sell quite well.

But yeah, they need to get off their asses and release the rest of the F13 films in HD.

That's a fairly small list considering their entire release catalog and doesn't seem unlike any other large studio. Most of those are limited special editions (duh), several years old and due for a reprinting in all probability or already back in print.

In fact titles like Nacho Libre were re-issued with lower MSRP's of $14.99 so it's entirely in line with what I'm saying.

There's a LOT of misinformation on Blu-ray.com and I only read it as a lark.

True. But I have no faith in anything Paramount or Universal release in terms of Blu-rays. I actually read another review of the "Clue" blu-ray which indicates that it's a solid release. DVD Beaver is generally spot on with their reviews, however I'll pick it up should it drop below $15.
