Must Have Horror BluRays????
Hey folks,
Well, I'm moved into my new house and I have my projector set up and working great and will be doing the surround sound setup this week. =) I have a 120" screen for my projector and it looks fantastic! Soooooo, I've been away from the DVD / Bluray purchasing scene for a while now...I'm talking like 2 or 3 years. I've bought a few here or there but I know there have been some releases in those last few years that horror fans would consider MUST HAVES. I enjoy all horror from all time periods. So, who are the heavy hitters in the horror Bluray market now? I know Anchor Bay has fallen to the way side and produce crap now...so who reigns supreme with quality and supplements? I'm mostly looking for Bluray releases, but if there's a DVD release that qualifies, I'd like to know. Thanks for all your recommendations! I'm looking forward to stocking up on some new discs and putting my new home theater to use! |

Check it out yo...
http://www.horrordigital.com/vb3foru...hlight=blu-ray As of more recent, Halloween II is great, but there is a new SHOUT! version coming out - however, without Terror in the Aisles as an extra I'm not sure it's a better release yet. Also, Intruder and any Blue Underground release you can't go wrong.

I would highly recommend A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Prowler, and Dark Night Of The Scarecrow. Great movies, and they look amazing in hi-def.
Humanoids From The Deep looks terrific too, but the movie isn't one of my favorites. |

I'd say Alien, Humanoids From the Deep, and Vampire Circus for sure.

If you want to get technical, then City of the Living Dead was a "must have" on blu-ray for me because it's my favorite Lucio Fulci film. I'm not entirely convinced that it's "reference quality" though, but overall it is definitely a leap above the old AB disc.

Return of the Living Dead UK steelbook should be in everyone's collection as well. It works on almost all players, has original audio, and looks better than the US disc.

I don't believe that anybody on this board seriously expects that. We only expect these films they way they're supposed to look. We want our films to look like they were shot on film. We want them to be free of mosquito noise, artifacting, and edge enhancement. And we want to get loaded!

i think when DVDs first came out alot of people really thought just cause something was on dvd it was gonna look like star wars just because it was on a digital format.. and probably psyched themselves out watching a crappy dvd of Rocky, SHOWING THEIR FRIENDS. wow LOOK how good that looks on dvd? ha ha when you and i know the first incarnation of rocky on dvd looked like crap...
