Nice!
I have the UK Blu-rays on pre-order, and they sound like they'll be solid releases with the packaging, lossless audio choices, exclusive commentary and bonus features. I'm not even sure if I'll keep the US Blu-rays on pre-order at Amazon...even though they are cheap as a trilogy.

88 Films has done a nice job on the UK Blu-ray of Puppet Master.
My mini-review of the disc: I'm unable to do a comparison with the old US Full Moon Blu-ray, since it has since rotted (THANKS Full Moon!! ) — but the transfer almost definitely looks better. The details appear sharper, and the color/contrast/black levels look better. It just seems like a better overall encode, if not even an entirely different transfer. The Blu-ray is region-free. We get lossless DTS HD-Master 5.1 and uncompressed PCM 2.0 It does indeed come with a reversible cover and a nice booklet. The trailer for Puppet Master is in full 1080p (not just an upconvert) on the disc, as is Castle Freak and about 8 others. The original Videozone featurette is included, as is the CB introduction from the old Blu-ray. I haven't yet had a chance to listen to CB commentary or the UK exclusive commentary. I look forward to getting II, III, Subspecies and Castle Freak on Blu-ray from them.

The CB commentary is just ok. The sound quality of it is very bad, sounds like they recorded it in a public restroom. Chris Gore is also a terrible moderator. His first question is "where do you get your ideas from?" and it stays along those lines from there. Band doesn't really remember too much about the movie and probably spends more time talking about Puppet Master 9 than the original. There's some interesting information though, but a lot of long long silences. It was also recorded in 2009 apparently.

I'm not even messing with the US Full Moon Blu-rays... especially since they botched the first releases not once, but twice.

The stereo mix can be a downconversion of the 5.1 mix, this was done many times in the past. |

They only advertise the audio as "DD" (Dolby Digital) however, so I wonder whether we'll get lossless and uncompressed audio choices with these two sequels.
