I'll bet you have to switch to it manually though right? It was the same way on their recent Puppet Master X: Axis Rising Blu-ray. There was also a 2.0 track, but no menu audio set-up options.

That is correct. I didn't realize there was a 2.0 track until I started switching audio manually. But it is there and I do recommend others switching to that track when watching / listening to PM2.

Subspecies 2 is AWESOME. Seriously one of Full Moon's very best.

88 Films will be releasing the sequel Blu-rays in the UK: http://www.88films.co.uk/
Thankfully! I'd rather import those than buy the domestic Full Moon releases.

I wonder where Chuck announced all that.
I just saw that 88 Films specifically notes their DVD for Meridian has "High bitrate encode" and that made my mouth water... So I checked and DVD Beaver has taken a closer look at it: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film4/dvd_r...7/meridian.htm I might be tempted to throw that into my next UK order.

I guess my question was, are there two versions of the Puppet Master films on Blu, one from Full Moon (U.S.), and another from their UK branch? What's the difference between 88 Film's Blu's vs. Full Moon's?

at least in the case of the first one, i believe the UK version has an extra commentary. i THINK that otherwise they are all identical in terms of A/V quality and other extras, but i like the UK versions' packaging better.

Edit: Supposedly, the UK disc has better picture quality too, but that's not something I can verify. Last edited by zbinks; 11-16-2012 at 07:29 PM. |

The US PM1 has 5.1. Their first pressing did not, but it was corrected later on (supposedly, I'm too lazy to check the disc to be for sure).

The picture quality for the first film indeed looks better than the US Blu-ray. It's simply better encoded and utlizes a higher bitrate.

Tourist Trap has made an appearance on... Rifftrax video on demand.
I've only watched the trailer but the video looks rather good. It's been awhile but I remember my DVD being a little more muted. Usually Rifftrax releases it a year or two later through Legend Films onto DVD but also the occasional Blu-ray. Will we be seeing more Charles Band productions with Rifftrax?

I just got done watching the first TRANCERS movie on DVD. Yikes, it looks like an old VHS tape. Are all of Full Moon's DVD's this badly in need of remastering?
