I guess what I mean is the need to always put a genre vet or a shout out to another film. I appreciate that these guys are getting work but it just takes me out of the movie. Usually it calls back a much better film. With low budget they probably wouldn't be able to afford a name actor, so it could be it's own thing.

Will second Bloody Murder 2. Definitely fits the low budget criteria and good cheesy fun. Shredder is enjoyable as well.

If you're into some Ozploitation goodness, WOLF CREEK (2005) and STORM WARNING (2007) were both totally solid in my book.

Ordered a copy of COLD PREY based on recommendations here. Is this a foreign film?

What about the sequels - didn't see them listed for sale.

What about the film Slashers. It's about a Japanese game show were six contestants are hunted by three slashers. Anybody here seen it. I just bought and watched Cold Prey that's a good slasher flick. Never seen parts 2 & 3 got to pick those up.

I really enjoyed DEAD TONE aka 7EVENTY 5IVE (2007) with Rutger Hauer. It may seem crazy to base a movie plot around prank calls in the age of cell phones and caller ID but they make it work and the kills are surprisingly brutal.

Yup. I mentioned it in my list as well. Fun flick, and the director's follow-up End Of The Line is equally terrific.

Oh! Okay. Yeah, that bugs me, especially if it's someone big like Englund or Hodder. Otherwise, if it's set in the 70s/80s, and somehow has that vibe (imo hasn't come close save for a few scenes of the Thanksgiving trailer) then it's good nostalgia for me.

Anybody see Mask Maker (2010)? I was thinking about picking it up--kinda hoping it's a decent low budget slasher with some nice gore and a lil' T&A.

I saw it not too long ago, and I've already forgotten it. Didn't leave an impression. I'd say skip it.

Mask Maker wasn't too bad, but CPT HOOK is right, I saw it a few months ago & I barely remember any details about it. Good for a rental but not a purchase.

I thought Timber Falls was a fun little backwoods slasher type flick. Along those same lines, I know tons of people hated Lake Dead, but I thought it was decent. Not great but not terrible in my opinion. Also maybe check out Eden Lake (not a slasher per se, but close enough).

Watched Malevolence and enjoyed it. Also watched Dorm That Dripped Blood. I had to force myself through that one.
