Pitchfork Massacre (1984?)
Has anyone heard of this film, it had a two week run at theaters and drive-ins during the first quarter of 1984, it may have come to VHS under a different name!

Still unsolved, but I think the last comment in the comments section sounds about like that's what it might be. I think The Slayer at least fits more than the 8 films he thinks it is, especially having seen 5 of them and it's likely not them re-titled.

What about Invitation to Hell (1982)
Woman gets pitchforked. Same age group as the woman in the ad. And she was wearing a jacket. Or how about Igor And The Lunatics / aka Bloodshed (1985) Same crazy Texas Massacre type movie. Crazy group and all. Has a pitchfork scene. Fits the time. Fits the slogan in the ad. Like an alternate to TCM. You never know? Last edited by baggio; 08-01-2012 at 08:36 PM. |

I would have doubts about the 1984 Invitation To Hell, since that was a tv-movie of the week, but it might be the 1982 UK horror opus Invitation to Hell, which came in under three running times which means it has been cut and recut, usually with name change in different regions.
Still feel the Slayer is it, I made that post over at RS.

I dunno, with no credits listed, this looks more like an indie type thing.
Very interesting, though. I love a good mystery.

Any chance it could be a retitled "Invasion of the Blood Farmers"? I never saw that but the poster features a pitchfork prominently. And it wouldn't be the first time a non-slasher film was retitled to fool unsuspecting moviegoers.

No, not solved yet.
Plenty of random guesses, but guesses only complicate rather than simplify the mystery. I've been going through film, by film, of the numerous possibilities, looking for the chick on the poster screaming. The poster is way too cheap to have bothered hiring a model...it's way too cheap not to be a poorly duplicated still from the movie. Going to take forever to sift through all relevant movies... would love for anyone to help... the only way to start classifying this as a lost original film is to rule out that it's a retitling.

1978'S Touch of Satan (just released by Code Red) was re-released years later under a different title. Not sure which, exactly, but it had "Pitchfork" in it. There's no massacre, though - just one guy being disembowled with the tool in almost total darkness (if I remember correctly).

A very intriguing mystery for sure.

Vacanze per un massacro (1980) – aka on VHS “MadNess” in 1980 – re-released to theaters for short stints in 80s as Pitchfork Massacre – my Italian bro in law identified the actress from the Pitchfork Massacre art as Lorraine De Selle – an actress grindhouse fans are familiar with. Film features deaths by Pitchfork.
