I've never actually seen House of Exorcism. I've seen Lisa and the Devil, and that was pretty bizarre and incoherent enough (though in that good kind of incoherent way). I can't imagine how spliced in exorcism scenes would have made it any more understandable. Yet oddly enough, I still want to see it someday.

Lisa and the Devil came on that classic Elite double-feature laserdisc, paired up with Baron Blood. That's a damn good combo of movies if ya ask me.

Really excited for all these, but particularly for Hatchet. I really don't understand why it doesn't seem to rank up there among fans. I find its deconstruction of machismo fascinating and the way it persuades the audience to root for the killer just as subversive as anything in Blood and Black Lace. Way ahead of its time.

Any word if these will come with commentaries?

Lisa and the Devil is my favorite among these Bava films. The re-edited House of Exorcism was very painful to watch even once. Super lame attempt at cashing in on the box office success of The Exorcist.

I plan on picking up Lisa and Black Sunday when they are released. Baron Blood, Black Sabbath, and Kill Baby Kill would also be nice on Blu!

i'm all over these! too bad they're not up for pre-order on amazon.ca yet. While i'm excited for these, i'd really love to see black sabbath and kill baby kill, since both dvd releases left some room for improvement. i'd love to have the english dub of black sabbath with karloff's voice included, and i'd be really excited to see kill baby kill released with the extras that were produced for the shelved dark sky dvd.

Absolutely! Boris Karloff dubbed in Italian just doesn't work for me in Black Sabbath.

Did anyone ever determine what Bava films were included in the Redemption / Kino Lorber deal? The announcement only mentioned Hatchet for the Honeymoon. Did this deal essentially include all of the films from the Mario Bava Collection sets released by Image in 1999 and Anchor Bay in 2007?

If I remember correctly, the rights to the English language version of Black Sabbath belonged to American International Pictures (now part of the MGM/UA library). As I recall, the rights to the English audio could not be secured for the previous DVD releases.

Tim Lucas confirmed on my Facebook page that his commentaries will be included on BLACK SUNDAY and LISA AND THE DEVIL and that he's recording a new track for HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON.

After growing up watching Elke Sommer on the Gong Show, any way to see her boobs in HD is fine by me.

Redemption has cancelled the interview w/ Barbara Steele for the Black Sunday blu-ray. A few fans, myself included, have urged them on their FB page to keep the interview.

This is the one I wanted the most of the three. Don't plan on buying it now.
