THERE'S NOWHERE TO RUN, NOWHERE TO HIDE, NO WAY TO STOP... THE CAR

Made when Jaws was still the most successful film of all time, The Car has almost exactly the same premise, but replaces the ocean with the Utah desert, and the shark with a Lincoln Continental Mark III of possibly supernatural origin.

When two teenage cyclists and a hitch-hiking musician are killed in apparently deliberate hit-and-runs, the police department of Santa Ynez investigates, whereupon the seemingly driverless vehicle turns on its hapless officers as well. And when the car strikes rather too close to the home of Captain Wade Parent (James Brolin), he vows to stop at nothing to defeat it.

Director Elliot Silverstein (Cat Ballou, A Man Called Horse) keeps everything as slick and streamlined as the car itself, turning the desert landscape into a powerfully mythic backdrop for a potent clash between the forces of good and those of inexplicable but clearly implacable evil.

I don't think it's bad at all, it's quite a fun flick. Opening scene with the bike riders scared the HELL out of me when I was a kid. My wife is also a big fan, we bought the DVD that came out a few years ago and the two of us both had a lot of fun with it.

This is an awesome movie - one of my all time favourites, and I can't wait to pop it into my blu-ray player!

Just kidding, it may not be for everyone, but I think it's a fun, fast-paced movie with some good suspense. A very sexy James Brolin facing off against a cool, evil car - that's good enough for me!

I think the new covers are fantastic! The posters, like the trailers, are [i]supposed[i] to make the feature look better than it is.

I love this movie too ever since i bought the Anchor Bay DVD. Ihope Arrow keep the 5.1 option that was on the Anchor Bay DVD as it was pretty good. Be good to have this in HD though.

I love the film, so this will be a day one pre-order for me. It'll be great to finally see some special features for the film.

Only the left cover is new, the right one is one of the original theatrical posters.

yeah looks like arrow is trying to be the new shout factory. this will also boost the sales of region free blu ray players. could be all working together.. ya never know...

I think otherwise... Shout Factory is trying to be the new Arrow.

Opening scene with the bike riders scared the HELL out of me when I was a kid. My wife is also a big fan, we bought the DVD that came out a few years ago and the two of us both had a lot of fun with it.
