Luigi Batzella's NUDE FOR SATAN (1974) from Redemption (3/19)

And blu ray gets even more Eurotrashy with the release of Luigi Batzella's NUDE FOR SATAN (1974), courtesy of Redemption Films and Kino Lorber! Holding up in a remote castle following a car crash, a doctor and the wreck's female survivor (a perpetually naked Rita Calderoni) find themselves subject to surreal events that may or may not be omens from the past, or premonitions of the future. It seems their host may be the Devil himself, and before the night's over they'll be party to Satanic whippings, flaming skulls, and the most ridiculous giant spider attack you're likely to see.

Much like their release of Renato Polselli's BLACK MAGIC RITES (also starring Calderoni), this is a fever-dream of a film, enhanced by free-form camerawork, a tripped-out score and a borderline-incoherent editing rhythm. Its relaxation of a standard plotline with undoubtedly infuriate some, but if you're in an adventurous frame of mind you could do a lot worse. (Now will somebody give us a good release of THE DEVIL'S WEDDING NIGHT?!)

I have always thought NUDE FOR SATAN was one of the best movie titles of all time.

It might be a good title but what a boring film. Even the trailer makes the film look terrible. You gotta love that scary spider/bug creature though.

FYI this is also streaming on Netflix. I've never seen it, so that's the route I'll go.

It's been in my queue forever. It's one of those movies that I love the title of buuuuut kind of know what I'll be getting: Lazy soft core mixed with half-assed euro-horror.

I believe June 25th is the revised release date.

Amazon had already switched it to the 6/25 date -- now it's back in limbo. Same with Kino's NIGHT TIDE disc, which has now apparently been delayed again...

Gotcha. Maybe they figured out it's a porno...

Wouldn't be surprised if it still makes that release date. Amazon does bizarre things all the time. (Also wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed again.)
