Robert Vincent O'Neill's WONDER WOMEN (1973) from Retromedia 6/18

And my DVD Wish List just got smaller -- Retromedia Entertainment announces Robert Vincent O'Neill's WONDER WOMEN (1973)! Investigating the disappearance of several notable athletes and musicians, former CIA agent Mike Harber is drawn to the Manila base of the sexy Dr. Tsu, a crackerjack organ thief with an all-female kung fu army! Things quickly go from off-kilter to flat-out insane with jeep chases, brain sex, escaped mutants, cheesecake chop-socky and much, much more. It's over-the-top '70s exploitation at its best, with an all-star trash cast including Ross Hagen, Nancy Kwan, Roberta Collins, Maria de Aragon, Marilyn Joi, and even Vic Diaz and Sid Haig! Just watch the trailer -- if you're not hooked, you should probably unfriend me.

In addition to a new 35mm transfer, Retromedia promise a fully loaded special edition, including a commentary track with O'Neill, behind-the-scenes 8mm footage, trailers, interviews, footage from the never-completed sequel, WARRIOR WOMEN, and much more! An easy contender for my Top Ten of 2013 list, assuming they don't muck it up.

Wasn't Code Red supposed to release this or am I confusing this with another title? At any rate, I totally want to see this!

Code Red has a release of this in the chute and there is a legal battle raging. Sounds like CR paid someone for the rights and Retromedia, as usual, did not.

Cannot wait for this release. A friend of mine in the US has been telling me about this one for a couple years but I still haven't had the chance to check it out.

Amazon has it in stock. Mine hasn't shipped yet -- I have it on the same order as TODD AND THE BOOK OF PURE EVIL: SEASON 2, which doesn't street until next Tuesday, so I imagine they'll ship together. Unfortunately, it's also holding up my LIFEFORCE, THE HOWLING, NINJA III: THE DOMINATION and A LABOR OF LOVE! I guess that's what happens when you choose free shipping, haha.

Nice. I am really looking foward to checking out the new disc. I just watched a nice 16mm print of WONDER WOMEN at a mutual friends house last Tuesday.

Got mine earlier today...

The 16x9 "Progressive" transfer looks pretty good.

The audio sucks though, they encoded it at a paltry 112kbps...which Retromedia has done more than a few times before for some reason. Virtually every DVD has at least 192kbps which is the de facto standard.

There's an audio commentary, interview, trailers, stills gallery, deleted scenes, scenes from the sequel, etc.. so it is pretty packed there.

Looks like this has been pulled from Amazon -- probably due to the rights dispute with Code Red. Glad I got it when I did!

Also, the actual cover is different than what I linked above; it really looks like this:
