Hellraiser Blu-ray Collection 10/07/14

There's a pre-order on Amazon for this with no other information except that it's from Lionsgate. I'd be surprised if this is a complete box set of all of the films. This year is getting to be very expensive.

Already shot down as a repackaging of the Echo Bridge multipacks.

Does anyone really like any of the sequels after part 3?
Part 4 had itīs moments, but you could tell that the studio messed too much with it.

The later ones after that, uuugghhh....

I've heard rumors / speculation that Lionsgate got some of the Miramax catalog that Echo Bridge had. If so, that gives them everything from Hell on Earth (Part 3) onward, except for the last one, Revelations. So a 3 - 8 collection is most likely, unless they go the extra mile of sub-licensing 1, 2, and 9 for a Complete Collection. Hope they do, a 9-film puzzle box would be pretty sweet!

Didn't even like 3, thought it was schlock.

Bloodline might have been a good movie if it had remained in the Georgian era, that part of the film was reasonably well executed and had a more interesting back story. The modern age storyline was worthless filler. As for the future storyline, the less said the better.

Inferno is the only sequel after the first one that I enjoyed. It’s a derivate damned soul coming to realize his torment story, but I'm a sucker for those. There is little reason for Pinhead's presence in that one, however - the character is not a Catholicism based demon meting punishments suitable for the sin, and should not have been cast as such. Such a version of Hell was only briefly alluded to in Hellbound (Frank's torment, the Leviathan invoked flashbacks on Tiffany and Kirsty), and runs counter to the first film (Hell is what you get because it’s what you ask for).

The rest of the sequels are, at best, worth a bored weekend rental for the "have to watch them anyway regardless of reputation" curious.

At present, I have the first two films on Blu, having upgraded the DVDs from the complete film series run, but other than maybe Inferno have no intention of upgrading any of the others.

It's not really been confirmed yet if this a repack of the 4 selected Miramax sequels you know.

It would be great if this collection included all 9 films, but I doubt it.

That would be horrible. Only the first 4 are interesting enough to watch. I've always the best way to do a Hellraiser set is to split it between theatrical and DTV films.

I suspect that they are jumping on the proverbial bandwagon since the HALLOWEEN set was announced. For me, there's a certain level of wonderful awfulness about those DTV "sequels" but I doubt I'd buy it.

The Echo Bridge BDs were quite decent. Such a shame part 3 was never released and I bet Lionsgate won't release it by itself, only to make people pay for the box set.
