The Haunting (1963) to be released on 10/15/2013

From blu-ray.com:

Quote:
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of director Robert Wise and screenwriter Nelson Gidding's The Haunting. The 1963 horror classic stars Julie Harris, Claire Bloom, Richard Johnson and Russ Tamblyn, and streets on October 15th.

Official Synopsis: No one lives in the 90-year-old Hill House. Or so it seems. But come in. Even if you don't believe in ghosts, there's no denying the terror of The Haunting. Wise, whose started his directorial career with The Curse of the Cat People (1944), made his return to psychological horror for this first screen adaptation of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House. Four people (Harris, Bloom, Johnson and Tamblyn) come to the house to study its supernatural phenomena. Or has the house drawn at least one of them to it?

Warner has yet to detail tech specs or extras.

One of the few classics that somehow eluded my grasp on DVD. It will be mine!

Although I'm excited about this release, I agree, I would love to see the '91 movie! I remember it being creepy as hell when I watched it as a child. it's supposed to be a based on a true story.

One of my all-time favorite haunted house movies, The Haunting is definitely worth upgrading. I have the 2003 dvd release which has a great commentary track with the four lead cast members, director, & screenwriter. Hopefully the commentary track is carried over to the Blu-ray release. It's the 50th anniversary of The Haunting. The timing is perfect for Halloween.

Love it, but saving me pennies for The Conjuring and The Uninvited, so it will have to wait.

Yeah, Warner blu-rays tend to go cheap pretty quickly. I'll wait for $7.99 or less.

Besides, TCM will be airing it non-stop throughout October. They usually air it at least once a month year round anyway.

...and some of them take forever to go any cheaper. I'm still waiting on Hard to Kill to go cheaper somewhere. That one came out well over a year ago.

I don't think the House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows Blu-rays have ever gone much cheaper either. Both of those are almost year old releases.

Yeah, I suppose. I never really kept an eye on the pricing for those. But a lot of them have seemed to drop in the $5 - $10 range pretty quickly.

For what it's worth, all three of those are $11.59 at WBShop. Free shipping over $25, and coupon code ANYCODES5 should take off an extra $5 (must be over $25). So that should balance out to around $10 each, which isn't bad.
