Wow The House On Straw Hill is a big one for me on Blu. I only have a bootleg(uncut) of this which is in dire need of replacing. Hope these will be region free. What are Severin like regarding region codes?

This is good news but what's with Severin encoding their Blu's with MPEG-2? This isn't 2004.

Quote:
Ashanti & The Wild Geese were MPEG-2 transfers and lossy audio. The recent Arrow Blu-ray of The Wild Geese is AVC MPEG-4 and has lossless audio in comparison...which comes from the same licensor. Severin's recent Blu-ray of Zulu Dawn (comes from the same licensor as Ashanti & The Wild Geese) did utilize an MPEG-4 encode and have lossless audio...so they're making little sense with these releases.

One of the original Video Nasties, James Kenelm Clarke's HOUSE ON STRAW HILL (aka EXPOSE, 1976) finally gets its uncut digital debut courtesy of Severin Films! The great Udo Kier is an eccentric novelist (he wears rubber gloves during sex) who rents out a countryside estate to concentrate on his latest work. Repeatedly plagued by violent visions, he can't quite put pen to paper. Sexy young Linda Hayden is the frequently-masturbating stenographer he hires for assistance, but she has some twisted secrets of her own. Skin queen Fiona Richmond is the troubled girlfriend; how does she fit in? Things are definitely not as they seem at this secluded cottage, where ulterior motives and hidden vendettas lead to multiple bodies being slashed and blasted before the end credits roll. An ultra-sleazy trash classic; would you expect any less from the producer of VAMPYRES?
Announced supplements include: * Audio Commentary with director James Kenelm Clarke and producer Brian Smedley-Aston * All-new interviews with director James Kenelm Clarke and star Linda Hayden * Theatrical Trailer DVD / Blu Combo Preorder: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ag=cinema09-20 Euro Trailer: http://youtu.be/sZ8Bh6DhZl0?t=2m12s

Surprised Linda Hayden had anything to do with this release as she has stated several times in the past she hates it and was duped into doing nude scenes etc...

I watched House On Straw Hill years ago on VHS when I rented it from Movie Gallery near me, and glad to see it's coming out on Blu-Ray. Thanks for the heads up. The other movie, I have never seen, but I would like to see it first before I decide to buy it or not.

Talked to David Gregory for a bit on my drive home today. The main delay with HOUSE ON STRAW HILL was elements. The original negative had water damage and was originally deemed unusable. A 35mm theatrical print was discovered by a private collector, but it was unfortunately censored, missing both sex and violence. (I actually saw this print, titled TRAUMA, projected a few years back and it generally looks pretty darn nice.) The search was on for an uncut element, but all that turned up was a 1" master. The idea was originally going to be make a composite of the two and release it as an Intervision title, but Severin delayed the disc, hoping for a better option. Cut to a few years later, and the company decided to give the water-damaged negative another look, taking it to a different lab to process. With newer technology available, this outfit decided they *could* run a scan of it and clean up at least some of the issues, so the missing segments were indeed transferred, cleaned up as much as could be, and composited into the master. So we're now finally getting an uncut release of the movie, scanned in high definition from film elements! Great news all around.
