Anyone know what happened with this release ? It has yet to come out, nor has a date been announced.

They posted this on their Facebook page a couple months back:

The BAY OF BLOOD release date has been delayed, but we will be releasing a Blu-ray as well as the DVD.

I saw Bay of Blood on Diabolik's New Arrival's page. I immediately checked my orders on Amazon and noticed it didn't show up, which I thought was odd because I usually pre-order the stuff I want as soon as I see bruce_h post the links (thanks man). Then I checked my email, and amazon cancelled my preorder and now lists Bay of Blood as "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available."

Needless to say I ordered it from Diabolik, but anyone know what is up with Amazon?

I agree. Arrow's region free release will be tough to beat imo. Too bad most Kino releases are also bare bones

I actually got an email from Amazon earlier today:

"Bay of Blood: Kino Classics Remastered Edition [Blu-ray]"
Estimated arrival date: September 03, 2013

Please visit Your Account (www.amazon.com/youraccount) for the most up-to-date delivery information about this order. If there are other items in your order, they'll be shipped according to the delivery estimates listed in the order details in Your Account at no additional cost.

Amazon still haven't put the preorder back up, though. Someone is apparently asleep at the wheel.

I thought I remembered reading that the color timing was off on the Arrow release.

The colors are somewhat muted, and the contrast/black levels are often pretty crappy. It could definitely be improved upon.

Watching the Kino BD right now...looks pretty good. These colors are definitely not muted...reds, oranges, blues and greens are popping nicely, flesh tones look natural, and there black levels look healthy.

I have the Arrow BD, but haven't watched it, so I can't confirm the Kino release is better, but I'm not seeing any color muting here. There's plenty of detail to be had and there is a nice layer of grain. This transfer looks great to me.

Thanks for the info!! This sounds like a keeper. I've got a copy of the Kino release coming in my mailbox soon. I'm foggy on extras, but Diabolik mentions an additional alternate Italian language version with differing scenes. Very interesting and a first seen, no?

Actually the Arrow release does include the Italian version of the film, tho it's only about 10GB according to this review:

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/dvdre...y_of_blood.htm

As for the color timing issues, I guess we'll just wait and see how the Kino release compares. If there's a significant improvement, I'll gladly upgrade and keep the Arrow copy for the features.

Mondo Digital on BAY OF BLOOD. Looks like the preorder is live again, too.

Glad to hear the contrast issues from the Arrow disc have been fixed!
