You're gonna need a HDTV capable of 4K output though to take advantage. So you better have $5,000+ at this time to spend on a new TV first.

Ghostbusters has never been properly remastered on blu ray. It's one of the worst looking blu rays I have ever viewed. What difference does it make if it's “Mastered in 4K” when the film looks like shit to began with??

whats the asterix next to "expanded color" directing the reader towards?

*expanded colors may not be distinguishable by the human eye.

These Blu-rays are not actually in 4K on the disc, but re-masters from a 4K source.
Blu-Ray discs don´t support 4K at this time, and only a handful of players (Sony, latest Oppo etc.) can UPSCALE to 4k.

This is just marketing bullshit.
These are just mastered from the bunch of 4K titles that you can stream from a box connected to those new Sony 4K TV:s.

The only improvement to these discs are if the transfers are better compared to the earlier 2K ones and if the bitrate is higher. But still...

As you can tell from the boxart "MASTERED in 4K" and "created from 4K source elements".

This will die out even sooner than "Superbit", especially since very few of those "Superbit" DVD´s actually had any higher bitrate than a normal DVD release.

Screw you, Sony!

There are some touch-ups on clarity, sound, and color but that's it! The special effects were enhanced but this film itself has never been remastered.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4K Remaster isn't going to be in 3D? I really wanted to watch Sony cram "The Amazing Spider-Man 3D (Mastered in 4K)" to confuse the hell out of people. It would be especially nice looking on a sequel "The Amazing Spider-Man 2 3D (Mastered in 4K)"

It might not even be an actual remaster, but rather a repackaging of the already existing Blu-Ray. The current Blu-Ray was mastered from a 4K source and already has a high bitrate (37.83 Mbps). The same holds true for quite a few of these titles, though maybe not all.

The Blu-ray had its contrast boosted and had a ton of EE applied to it. This was all done for a DVD re-release some time back and was the same master used on the Blu-ray. I believe they have done an all new master for this release.

I'm tempted by Ghostbusters, Spider-Man 2002 and Taxi Driver. I'll have to see reviews first as I own all of them on Blu-ray.

The Spider-Man blu-ray was also lackluster but I believe the DI would be 2k so I'm interested in finding out how they did a 4k release. Taxi Driver's Blu-ray is reference quality material and so if they carry that over into a Superbit mindset I'm in on that too.

I am simply commenting on how silly the packaging would look if Sony tried to cram 4k and 3D on the cover. I am not buying any of these reissues.

I thought that blu-rays were how the images looked right from the master without any compression. At that point is it possible to get any better?

Sony, Universal etc. have been re-releasing a LOT of their movie on BD lately with new covers. How about just releasing something yet unavalible on the format instead? It´s just lazy.
