Any news on a new Beyond Blu-ray?
I know this was released across the pond by Arrow, but I heard the transfer wasn't so hot.
I just saw the Beyond at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC. It was awesome seeing the film on the big screen and I was curious if anyone has heard anything from Grindhouse Releasing about a Blu edition. As you can tell from my avatar and sig, I am a huge fan of the film. |

Thats a good question. I'm not sure what's going on with Grindhouse Releasing since Sage died.

Grindhouse is still being run by Bob and Co...but I think they are now primarily focusing on theatrically releasing films. They said that even when Sage was still alive. The Arrow BD kinda put a damper on things since they just worked so hard on their DVD version. So I doubt you will see another The Beyond BD in the near future...at least not stateside.

This is the most recent thread on these guys and their recent post on Facebook is fairly open ended so I figured I'd post it here:

Unfortunately it appears that they ignored any questions asking about Cannibal Holocaust and The Beyond blus. Those 2 and Pieces are the only films I'd be interested in upgrading from their previous DVD library.

Oh, and a Cannibal Ferox blu would be great as well.

I have the Arrow Blu-ray and it looks good to me. Is there room for improvement? Sure, I guess. However, I wouldn't say it doesn't look so hot. If you're a fan I'd definitely recommend picking it up.

I just watched a YouTube reviewer last night remarking that the opening sequence was originally supposed to be yellow- not sepia. Uh... that would be awesome to see.

...Sepia is yellow. Do they mean sepia not black and white? The original Arrow disc was B&W instead of sepia, they issued a replacement.

Someone called Grindhouse's transfer of the opening sepia. But it's much more a rust color. I really thought sepia was more rust than yellow. I was wrong.
EDIT: the disc is in the player right now- it's rusty pink. I hope Fulci wanted it sepia, that would have a far more sickly quality to it.

I too, would like to upgrade my Beyond LE Tin DVD, Cannibal Ferox, and Cannibal Holocaust DVDs, to Blu-Ray, but I would still keep the DVDs.

Honestly, I'd rather have American Hippie in Israel released on DVD before Grindhouse starts rereleasing their catalog in HD.

For me it would be Scum of the Earth, I think it was supposed to be release at least five years ago if I remember well (it was the one who was set to follow Pieces)... I'll take what is ready to release on DVD, before any blu-ray as I rarely double dip just because something is release on blu (I prefer to spend my limited ammount of money on stuff I don't have in my collection unless a lot of worthy new extras justified the price for me).
