1. I Am A Ghost
2. Excision 3. The Cabin in the Woods 4. The Innkeepers After that I'd just be listing the movies I saw. Those four were the only memorable ones. Although going through some other lists here, there's some I need to see.

the only horror movie that i really liked in 2012 was Cabin in the Woods. Most of those listed by others, I haven't seen. I'd like to see the innkeepers.

Cabin in the Woods
Dark Shadows Excision Those are the only three from this year I can think of that I saw that were any good. Juan of the Dead was ok, but not a favorite. I'm still looking forward to watching V/H/S, Rec3, American Mary, and a few others. |

Collection (only saw once in theater but loved it)
Cabin in the Woods (new favorite, held up perfect to repeat viewings) Innkeepers (lost a lot on second viewing first was awesome though) Piranha 3DD (not as awesome as I'd hoped, but still good dumb fun) Excision (best blind buy in a while, better than 247* which was other blind for the year) Unsure of: Resident Evil 5 - seemed kinda pointless at the theater, but I liked some parts, will try again, already broke my Sony boycot for the steelbook (since I have all the other steels) The Raven (watched a semi-bad download, liked what I could make out, waiting for library and real disc) Big time disappointments: Human Centipede 2 - where did all the dark humor go? This was sick for the sake of sick and I hated it (love the first) Wrong Turn 5 - after the awesomeness of 4 I couldn't wait, now I wish I had waited. Looks cheap and juvenile. Some fun spots, but a letdown overall. Still need to see almost everything else others have listed that I didn't chime in on. |

^ Yes, Frankenweenie and ParaNorman were the only horror related films I saw in theaters this year.
With that said I gave Frankenweenie a 9/10 and ParaNorman 8/10. Frankenweenie really surprised me and I think it's the best thing Burton's done since Ed Wood. ParaNorman was also very good and I'll be picking them both up on Blu-ray 3D. I did see both in 3D in theaters and I felt ParaNorman utilized the 3D much better than Frankenweenie did. I want to see Cabin in the Woods and Prometheus but even after reading these lists I'm not too excited to see anything else from this year for Horror. Would Hitchcock count?
