film project - music and text crawls

dear all,

i've done some takes for a filmproject that me and a friend have undertaken some 6 months ago and now i have the following questions (after previously having gotten some good advice on editing software) :

1) is there some kind of (possibly free) software that emulates a keyboard/synthezier/minimoog and can record it to MP3?

2) is there some kind of (possibly free) software with which to create textcrawls?

i want to create a trailer and had some cheap sounding 80's style synths as music in mind, maybe even some textcrawls
