Any Spaghetti Westerns to avoid?
I'm really interested in Spaghetti Westerns lately. But there are so many available.
Especially in R2 there are really a lot.So my question is.Which are the worst. And I mean: (for the film) direction,story/plot or acting. And for the dvd:no English audio option or bad transfer (cropped/P&S) etc... I basically know which are the must haves (Valerii,Corbucci,Castellari,Leone,Dallamano etc.) but which ones I can skip?? Thanks alot! |

Kill and Pray... really boring... when whats his face comes into... pasolini I think, he just talks and talks for the longest time and he is quite boring. I didn't like it anyway.
There is a PAL release of Tepepa I think but it has english dubbing, but during the film, the english drops out and goes to Italian, (a total of about 15 minutes of dialogue is like this throughout the flick)this was because it was a recut release and the scenes that were originally left out were put back in. I've also heard there are no english subtitles., but it is widescreen. A PAL release of The Big Gundown is available too, but alas, no english subtitles and no english audio track. Widescreen though. There are some nice releases from Japan of some great Spaghetti Westerns... Navajo Joe, The Mercenary, Sabata series... but they cost about 50 bucks US each, which is crazy. Thats the only problem with them, they all have an english audio track and are widescreen.

I haven't seen them myself, but a lot of people seem to dislike all the various DJANGO sequels--the first film and the last one are the only good ones, and also the only ones to star Franco Nero. I think a lot of the sequels were other films that were retitled to capitalize on the success of DJANGO.

I need more input!!
![]() Really there are just too many crappy releases out there,I need to know which. Perhaps there's a link for reviews or other things.I Googled but all I find is the common stuff (Leone mostly) Or is it because most of you don't buy R2?In that case I should try another forum.... Thanks in advance!! Last edited by Crystal Plumage; 07-03-2005 at 06:15 PM. |

Can you list what you have? That will help me at least give you some suggestions as to what is good.

It looks good, Fantoma did a good job for that old film. (widescreen is like 1.66:1 I think) That is probably one of the best westerns I have ever seen actually. Different too...

http://western.devildead.com/indexfi...n=2&FilmID=597 It looks better than the Fantoma disc (according to the comparison) but doesn't have an English audio option. |

I did some more searching and found out that these will get an MGM release in august:
Adios Sabata (1971) Death Rides A Horse (1968) Return of Sabata (1971) Sabata (1970) All in their correct aspect ratios. Also Paramount Germany will release A Genius,Two Friends and A Dupe in a 2DVD set. English and German audio. This was produced by Sergio Leone so I guess it's good?Directed by Damiani (Bullet For The General) Oh man...can't see the woods for the trees anymore

It would be nice if there were... I hope so. I already have the CD soundtrack, but it would be a nice addition anyway if they released it with the soundtrack etc... Such a good soundtrack. Good movie too.
