Burial Ground Blu-ray (Austria) 3/20/13

For those who are region free, there is a new Burial Ground/Nights of Terror blu-ray coming from Illusions Unltd. in Austria. It will be a Media Book limited edition with choice of 2 covers. A bit pricey but hopefully the transfer will be an improvement over the Shriek Show release which was cut and riddled with scanner noise.

Yeah, saw that too but it looks like German audio only for ZH.

Oh, didn't see that. I actually got the Shriek Show blu-ray of Zombie Holocaust at a used store for $7 anyway.

Well it's got awful dialogue, cheesy music, cool maggoty-eyed zombies, some nice gore, and an incestuous breast feeding man-boy named Michael. One of my favorite films.

The second cover was the one I saw at video stores as a kid so I may finally upgrade from the dvd to Buu. I will probably go for a Zombie Holocaust upgrade as well. Nice packaging and HD is too enticing. Thanks for the heads up!

I'd like to hear about the transfer first before picking these up. This studio has a nasty habit of grabbing other transfers and re-encoding them for other discs. It could be the exact same transfer for all we know.

I'll hold off until someone says otherwise.

Two of my alltime favorites. If they're indeed new scans I'll definitely double-dip.

The Shriek Show BDs had bad problems with croma/scanner noise, so Im also hoping that these are from new scans. But I doubt it since these german labels usually re-use the same transfers as the other cultlabels used.

Agreed! I've got Shriek Show's releases of Burial Ground and Zombie Holocaust, both have some flaws, I personally love both of these movies and I wouldn't mind seeing them with new transfers from original negatives, but I will not hold my breath. It's very likely that these as you said will be the same transfers.

I just recieved the Sleepless blu-ray mediabook and it has a new transfer. As well as the German Card Player blu-ray mediabook. So hopefully they went the same route with Burial Ground.

Hopefully they won't be using the same transfers, especially given the price and the fact that they seem to be putting some effort into the packaging. Plus the Shriek Show disc was region free so European customers who already have the US version would have no real incentive to upgrade. Besides, DVDForum.at seems to suggest that a new master has been created. Translation is a little rough but you get the idea:

Quote:
ILLUSIONS UNLTD. film brings out the return of the living dead in a limited edition Mediabook on March 20, 2013. There will be two versions of the cover and each cover is limited to 1000 pieces. In addition to the DVD, which also was newly created from HD material, for the first time the Blu-ray will be included.
