ANATOMY 1 & 2, William Castle Cheap from Mill Creek 5/7

Some new cheap Sony double-bill blus by way of Mill Creek, coming May 7th, including the surprisingly good modern slasher ANATOMY (paired with its okay sequel) and William Castle's MR. SARDONICUS. List price is $9.98.

ANATOMY (2000) / ANATOMY 2 (2003):

MR. SARDONICUS (1961) / THE BROTHERHOOD OF SATAN (1971):

Wow. Very interesting.

I have both on DVD. If they show up in the $5 bins, I might upgrade. But they really aren't movies I watch very often.

I do really like the first film though. Can't even remember the second.

Nice! These should be Sony licensed titles through Mill Creek, so the quality should be as good as their previous Blu-rays from them...which was surprisingly solid.

Mill Creek certainly shits all over Echo Bridge.

I'm surprisingly excited about this, I hope they're in cinemascope.

I'm curious about the audio. Subtitles, english dub, etc.

I know Echo Bridge recently flubbed with The Nameless, only including an English dub when the DVD had both language tracks. Not sure what Mill Creek's track record is like in this area.

The Sony Blu-rays that Mill Creek has previously released have had lossless audio and English subtitles, so it bodes well for these...

Half the time Echo Bridge just gives a standard 2.0 stereo track, when the older DVD's offered 5.1 options.

I think I've seen Brotherhood of Satan a long while back. If I did then it didn't leave much of an impression. Mr. Sardonicus is a fun film. The other two I haven't seen. Interesting to find out what Sony licenses out and to whom.

Unfortunately I'm willing to bet these will be barebones. Not sure about the other films but I know Anatomy was a pretty stacked DVD.

The Anatomy double feature is released on Tuesday.

I'm curious to see reviews. Mostly curious if the extras will be ported over. If so, I'll definitely upgrade. Save me some shelf space!

there will be no extra's but for the bargain price I don't think anybody can complain, I wish mill creek had the blob remake, would like to own that, living in the UK not much chance to get one of the limited releases from twilight time, but to be honest at that price I don't think I would have ordered anyway.

I agree, can't beat the price. Still, I might pass on the Anatomy double feature, just because both DVDs are filled with extras. And for some strange reason, I love that trashy pop-music video on DVD (it's the song from the operating table sex-scene). I play it every time I watch the movie.

I'd love to see Mill Creek release some of Sony's fullscreen catalog DVDs to blu-ray. For instance, I would love a My Girl / My Girl 2 blu-ray! Just One Of The Guys / Troop Beverly Hills would be terrific as well!

I don't yet know if the Anatomy Blu-ray will port over the extras or not, but it's so cheap that it's forgivable if it doesn't.

I like it!

We can pair Troop Beverly Hills with Real Genius.

I received it today from Amazon...

At first I thought they'd screwed up on Anatomy 2, since there was no set-up option for English subtitles. But they are on the disc...they're just "burned in" the picture.

English subtitles are a set-up option on the first film, so you can turn them on and off.

Curiously we get lossless German audio for Anatomy 2, but lossy German audio for the first film. The English dub track on the first film is lossless however.

The transfers are pretty average, and I'd say these are sourced from old HD masters. Sometimes the details look better than at other times. But they're still improvements over the old DVD releases.

There are no bonus features included for either film.

Received mine today from amazon also. I have never watched either movie but they sound interesting and for the price of the blu I figured it was worth a blind buy.
